hello everyone,
I have some questions and I need a little help with a diagnosis. This week I got a little over excited with the garbage disposal and I clogged the sink. I put Draino in the sink and woke up the next morning to find that the Draino had worked its way down the pipe and into the dishwasher and flooded the kitchen by running out of the dishwasher. I got the sink unclogged, I got the dishwasher out of the cabinet pulled the bottom panel and dried everything out. It got very little water inside. When I went to run the dishwasher I cannot get the main circulation pump to run and I get the intake/drain light flashing. I am able to move the cooling fan on the back of the pump with my fingers, so I know that it is not the common stuck impeller issue. I also downloaded the service manual and I ran it through the tests and I cannot get the circulation pump to activate. I am not sure how to test the motor any other way. I do have a Fluke Meter if someone can tell me how. Is it safe to say failed pump? Or did I miss something? I included a pic of the pump. it looks fine aside from some old rust from a leaking pump seal. If anyone has an extra lying around and want to sell it, I'm interested lol

Drano and garbage disposers aren't a good mix

IIRC.

In fact think makers of product warn strongly against it on label or otherwise.

Check eBay; there were plenty of Miele dishwasher circulation pumps both new and used last time one looked. Just make sure the model number will work with your machine.

I thought the same thing Launderess, but the bottle said it was compatible.

Is it not working because

the float switch has been activated?
Try running it without the polystyrene float and maybe without the base plate.

What model machine do you have?

G 886 SC-I I have manually activated the float a few times when I tried the Rinse Aid hot water suggestion in the repair manual. The drain pump isn't running constantly like it would be in a overflow condition, it has to be activated by hand.
