If you are referring to a new washer the reason for the stopping and starting is it is sensing the load in the machine and what amount of water is going to be needed to wash it. That would be normal operation for that machine. |

Vertical Modular Washer - VMW ... the belt-drive design Whirlpool introduced circa 2010(?) to replace the direct-drive. The machine is operating properly if the lid locks, then it spins up briefly and coasts to a stop, generally two or three times. It may unlock momentarily, then locks again and continues the cycle. There is a problem if it locks, unlocks, and performs no other action. |
