I remember very well seeing this machine at our local Sears on display. They always had the Lady Kenmore model hooked up to water and operational. It had to have been close to 1970 when this model came out. I aways thought that agitator was poorly designed. The ones I saw later on would not hold a fin setting and always seemed to revert back to the fins being all the way in.

Definitely a beautiful machine. Family friends had one and I was lucky enough to be at their house once when it was being used. I recall being amazed at how quiet it was compared to our 1960 Model 80. Also thought the adjustable agitator was very cool. Can imagine how much pressure must have been exerted on those little adjustable fins, especially with a full, heavy load.

My unreliable memory keeps recalling the introduction of this design as the first Lady Kenmore offered in the new shaded tawny gold. Possibly today's pic was in the spring catalog and the gold models rolled out in autumn of the same year? I also don't recall whether the agitation during that enzyme soak was brisk or gentle.

And note the price:  $279.95 for a TOL machine! or $299.95 for a porcelain cabinet.

Nothing else on the market at this time was as loaded with features and conveniences at this price point.
