Which part of the console lights up and where is the switch to turn the light on? |

There's a fluorescent light under the console, accessible by removing the white lens strip at the bottom. The strip and timer are lit, and some light may come through around the start button and under the auxiliary knobs. There's no separate light switch, it turns on when the timer is set to a cycle position.

On my similar Inglis Royal 100 dryer, the panel light and timer light also come on when you open the door. I can't tell if this one does the same or not. Mine also has an ozone lamp in the drum so the lights and door switch might be wired differently.
I'm wondering if the Imperial 80 has the "finish guard" feature? |
