Hello, so I'm looking to buy a new dishwasher that's reliable AND inexpensive. Ive always heard good things about Whirlpool's products so I want to go with this Amana dishwasher, made by WP. Anyway, anyone have this dishwasher or can tell me anything about it that I should know? They have this dishwasher listed for $248 at Home Depot, not including the warranty. Its brand new, and pretty basic. Thats all we need, nothing too fancy. Its perfect looking for weekly use at my house. Does anyone have any information on it? Should I buy it?

Daniel, I think this will meet your family's needs well.

I'd go for it.
It's a fairly reliable machine with a decent wash system.
Good filter system.
It'll run both racks at the same time yet cycle times are still on the long side for efficiency.
It will not be a stellar pot scrubber, but like Appnut says, it'll be a very decent dishwasher to meet your family's utility and cost needs.
Enjoy.

I just moved into a new apartment and it has an Amana from 2013 or 14. It is actually pretty good. I'll post some pics later too.

Oh cool,

You got the stainless one. I just looked it up at homedepot. It reminds me a lot of my Maytag.

@ John - what makes you think it wouldn't be a stellar pot scrubber? I mean, isn't it pretty much the same wash system across most of the WP dishwashers?

@Mark,
Just based on reviews and stuff I've read online, the lower end WPs are still good performers, but they don't have the high scrubbing power of the higher end WPs, KAs & MTs.
That's all.

Naturally I had to add the obligatory garbage disposal shot

Well unfortunatley, but fortunatley

So when we went to Home Depot to look at this dishwasher, there was an issue with the thin plastic of the back wall and it moved in and out as you moved the upper rack. I wasn't personally there to see it, a family member went to look at it and reported that it wasn't going to be a reliable DW for the money.

So on that note, we decided to keep looking at newer used dishwashers on Craigslist and look at what we found! Its a newer Maytag Jetclean in EXCELLENT condition! Stainless steel inside AND out! Its perfect, were taking a look at it tomorrow and hopefully buying it for $275 or less. It has much more features than the Amana plus its originally a $650 dollar dishwasher a few years ago. So hopefully this works for us!

Much like my Maytag - But I wonder what he meant by the back wall moving when I thought you said you were going to get the stainless interior.

@ Jake - that Amana of yours looks exactly like my Whirlpool (at least on the outside) that lasted me exactly 9.2 years
