This is located in Pittsburg and the gentlemen is in Houston on Buisness right now for a few weeks, so i could get it cheap and have time to plan a trip..

M question is what model is it and is there an owners manual around?

The owner isn's sure of its operating status, but he is under the impression it works..I wonder how well

If i need a unicouple will i be able to get one

Looks like a portable version of a KDC18 or KDC20.

Bob, I'm going to say KDC18.  Here's a link to a current thread with a KDC20-A picture (although it has more buttons than the average Custom).

I'm guessing you omitted KDC19 because there's evidence of a heated dry cycle on the subject machine?

Exactly no 19 series.

Unicouple

I assume you mean the adapter that attaches to your faucet.  Yes they are all over eBay as well as ACE Hardware, Lowe's, Home Depot.  Just about any one of them should have what you need.  If they don't I suspect someone here would have an extra one.

Portable-Convertible KA Custom DW

Nice DW, but keep in mind that this model was one of the last KA DWs that has no water heater element at all, so even with modern detergents you need better than 130 degree water in the machine.

You will probably also want to change out the top wash arm and china gaurd to the larger one that was used on the 19s and later for better washing in the corners of the top rack.
