Vintage advertisements of Refrigerators, Stoves, Ovens,  Dishwashers, Washing Machines, Clothes Dryers, Irons, Radios, Phonographs, Televisions, Fans, Air Conditioners, Vacuums, small electric kitchen appliances. So grab a snack out of the Cycla-matic, sit back and lets take a trip down memory lane. Special thanks to my husband (Catalanman).

Note:  As per A.W. guidelines, please do not repost any ads that appear in Picture of the Day (POD).

Please feel free to post any ads pertaining to this thread, just be sure the advertisements do not contain any identifiable watermarks or copyrights on the image from any persons or other websites.

Since some of you have wondered, the year I post with the advertisements is the year the ad was printed. Not necessarily the model year of the product.

Please note, some ads may no longer be available for viewing in the earlier parts of Vintage Appliance Advertisements. The image hosting site being used then erased the images over time. Sorry about that.

Thanks!

Enjoy!

You're welcomed Tim. I found out that the site I am using had a "DDS" attack, so that would explain the disappearing images. They seem to have recovered now.

The Thermador sisw by side

ovens--a more practical arrangement than the high/low arrangement common now. No stooping or bending, and frankly safer.

Maida Heatter, the American dessert expert, had these ovens and the matching cooktop in brushed stainless.

I bought a new set of Whirlpool portables just like the ad in #48 in 1974, but mine were white. The washer didn't hold up too well and was shot by 1977, but the dryer just kept right on going and I used it until 1981 when I replaced it with a used, full sized Norge, because I was finally living in a rental with a 220 outlet. I gave the still working Whirlpool to my sister. It was a great dryer for apt. living and worked very well, just slower than a full size dryer.

And the Hamilton washer in #43 is just like the one that replaced my Mom's Bendix Economat in 1955. That Hamilton crapped out by 58' and was replaced with a new GE FF.

I am surprised the Whirlpool portable didn't last very long. I always thought they were quite durable. I still would love to have one as a back up though.

Wonderful ads, Louie!  I am enjoying them immensely as always  - thank you for starting a new series!

And, so far, I have all the automatic coffeemakers in this series.  Not sure if that's a good or bad thing....

That RC/A/whirlpool refrigerator had a total of 13 cu. ft.  Compare that with today's units that are 28-32cu. ft  What different world, I'm sure those fridges seemed big back then.

NuTon Built-in Mixer-Blender

appnut's profile picture

That was in our house we moved into September 1961.  It was next to the bar sink.  It came with the blender, grinder, and sharpener.  My dad used the blender and sharpener.  My mom only used the grinder.  She'd take left over roast beef and grind it down and mix it with some mayo or something and make sandwiches for school lunches.  Yuck.  She was very forceful when grinding the meat and ended up eventually stripping the gears.  I don't remember if my dad replaced the motor even once or not.  I know when it "went" he was so peeved at my mom because he was of the opinion she had abused it, which she had.  And you couldn't tell her anything about running any of the appliances  (and she had me to deal with in "her domain") unless she asked.

I have the Magnavox "Hallvard 628" stereo pictured in reply #65. I remember my parents getting it; I think it came from Shillito's downtown store.

The Bendix washer in reply # 95 is the very first washing machine that I ever remember my Mom using. It was in our basement, and since we didn't have a dryer yet on rainy days she hung the laundry in the basement on clothes lines strung by my Dad.
