I've posted before about the *beautiful* A207 I acquired, but after some use the timer gave out. It's far to nice to junk, so I've stored it. I picked up a very well used A107 today, which *did* run, but is basically worn out (You can actually wear a Maytag out?!?). The timer works perfectly. I knew as soon as I plugged it in the tub bearing is shot, the brake squeals horribly, and the base plate is rusted through, but threw caution to the wind, scrubbed it up a bit and started a quick load of laundry. It leaked from the fill injector, then agitated beautifully. It drained and began to spin, VERY noisily. I bumped the lid and knocked out the cardboard I had jammed the lid switch with, and when I put it back in place, the motor stalled and let the magic smoke out. Either the bearing had heated up and seized, or the (very noisy) tub brake didn't release, or possibly the motor just plain died. So it's a parts machine for sure. I'm wondering if it's possible to swap the timer into the A207 (which works perfectly otherwise and is in excellent condition)? So with a stinky basement and a heavy heart, this Maytag (A107) won't be going on to wash again, but hopefully the A207 will. If anyone needs any parts, let me know, there are good parts. All the push buttons look new, the agitator and lint filter are fine, water valve works, etc.

Never mind, already done. It works perfectly. Anyone need parts from an A107?

Congratulations on switching out the timers!

I don't know much about the mechanics but I didn't know the answer to your question either & I was also wondering if it could be done too??

I'm so glad you were able to do it and keep your 207 up & running!
Again CONGRATULATIONS!
:oD

Yes I was able to swap the complete timer and dial, seems to work perfectly although the dial is silver rather than white with blue lettering. It connected pretty much seamlessly, some connections were in different places but with the same number/letter label. I ran four loads through it yesterday and I'm very happy. Now to strip all the usable parts from the 107 (agitator is already out, water temp and water level switches, lid switch, water valve, pump if I can get the screws out, cord) Might make an attempt at removing the transmission since it sounded great. Everything else is pretty much scrap. The cabinet is beat up and rusted through on the baseplate, the tub has some rust spots, motor may be toast, belts are worn etc.

it seemed as if it should work.....those models aren't all that far off on features....I would have been a bit more weary if the timer came from an 606/806, that might have been too far off the scale....

theres always the chance to switch out the whole control panel on many machines, wiring harness and all, the motor, as in 1 or 2 speeds, would be the only concern mainly....

I would pop out and save those ball lid hinges as well, their hard to come by if you need one....

post pics if you have time....

The main difference is the 107 is a single speed machine with an intermittent delicate agitation, the 207 is a two speed machine controlled by the pushbuttons. So, although I haven't tried it yet, the 207 should now be able to run the intermittent agitation of the delicate cycle on either speed, giving it essentially a handwash cycle if used with the low speed.
