My Maytag TL LAT2500 is failing and I am looking at new washers. I read old posts about the Speed Queen TL and noticed that the Electronic Control has a slow speed spin after the wash cycle. The knob control has fast speed, of course depending on the cycle selected. Is this still true for the latest crop of Speed Queens? I wish all washers had all cycles described somewhere. By the way, Speed Queen Normal/Eco cycle uses cold water only and has spray rinse all to lower the costs of energy. This is according to the Manufacturer's Owner's Manual.

I am looking at the SQ TL with knob vs Electronic Control. The Salesman stated that they actually have less trouble with the Electronic Control. And it has a longer (5 year) warranty. There are also more options and I am not totally against the Electronic Control. I had a Lady Kenmore with electronic control and it was kinda fun to use.

So at this point I am heading towards the SQ TL machine. I also looked at the Amana BOL machine because it is basically the same as all the other Whirlpools, costs less money, fills with water if selected, and is pretty highly rated.

Well, for starters, the "sales" person won't care the day the mother board fries.

I went for the knobs and so has everybody else I have known that bought a SQ TL in the last five years. I don't know anyone who has had any trouble and a few of these machines are very high mileage. Just 'sayin.

Speed Queen is your best bet. Either control albeit electronic or mechanical.

Now, on the BOL Amana, am assuming it washes without water if not water is selected? Have never seen that setting on any machine ever.............

Auto Sensing vs Deep Wash

BOL Amana will fill if Deep Water Wash is selected. Auto Sensing will fill with less water, as on other similar TL designs. Reviews have stated that even on sensing the machine fills pretty full. You must select extra rinse if you want a full tub on rinse cycle.

The photo is of the current machine which is different from past machines. Seems a lot of current TL machines are incorporating Deep Water Wash as an option.

One review on You Tube stated that it takes 10 minutes to fill. Hard to believe and another reason to go SQ.

They don't fry. The mechanical timer will certainly go bad before the electric control does.

I guess they used flow restrictors. And ofcourse an empty toploader needs takes in way more water than one that is filled with clothes.

Really?
Let me re-phrase that then, since there is a comprehension issue.
Most sales people don't give a s&@t what happens after they close the deal and it doesn't matter which controls you select.

There are two repairmen and a SQ dealer near me who also does repairs. They all say the electronics is un dependable. Numerous complaints of boards defective NIB.
I can only pass along what I hear. I don't work on 'em.

Clothing does not much water.

The largest load of clothing will usually not displace even one gallon of water in a TL washer, try filling a top load washer to the highest level and then put in a full load, you will be lucky if the WL rises even a 1/2"to an inch max.

'sad'...

Washers like this Amana remind me of gov in action. Time consuming, redundant actions, generally poor job performance.

Glad my 4 1/2 year old SQ tl & dryer operate MY way--NO f-ing around, good sounds, effective results in 30 minutes flat.

The Amana's agitator cap looks similar to another NO bs washer we had new,a '63 Frigidaire Imperial.

I'd trade ALL these new junkers for that one.
