Vintage stand and hand mixers do still turn up when you least expect them to! I've been noticing that thrift stores (Salvation Army & Goodwill for example) seem to shun older appliances. However, if you invest a little time, garage & estate sales are still good hunting grounds. And...if you have a specific model you are looking for let me know. I have LOTS of duplicate & triplicate models in the museum!! |

I still have my KitchenAid hand mixer that was one of the earlier ones. I purchased it around 1986 or 1987. It's up in the cabinet above the washer. It suffered from the fail of the mechanism that holds the beaters in locked position. From what I've read this was a common problem and the part has been NLA for a long time. I still miss having a hand mixer although I cannot justify one given I have the 4C Kelly sent me as well as my Pro600--both sitting on the counter along with my Subeam LeChef and Oskar food processors. I did discover last weekend the 3 quart CrockPot I got Christmas 1975 gave up the ghost, last time I used it was Super Bowl Sunday. Now down to just 1 CrockPot. |
