How anyone

Could keep a range 59 years and never get a speck of grease on it is a mystery! Everything works but the clock and I'm going to see if I can get it to run, probably just stuck.

Nice indeed, Hans!  Congratulations on a great find!

Roper

Made these, The Infrarod Microtube was just Sears name for a Chromalox unit, the large unit is a Micro Rocket, 2700 watt.

Maybe it was in a vacation home someplace and they always ate out or a mother in law kitchen that was never used. Pretty stove. Let me know how it bakes.

The couple

I bought it from said it was in a house they bought from a older couple, in a basement kitchen.I think it was used as a second stove, but not used very much.

Very pretty range, Hans. I love the medallions in the center of the elements. I'll bet they'll look just as pretty years from now, the way you keep house :-) Keep us posted on how you like it.

The surface units

Are MUCH faster than the Frigidaire I have been using, I bet the oven wont be as good as the FD but very few are as good, time will tell, but It sure is pretty in my kitchen.7 heats are nice too,

Well..An update

After using the Kenmore for a few months, I thought I would report on its performance, As for the top units, great, could not work any better, the large unit is very fast and the seven heats make a wonderfully responsive cooktop, the oven, just as I figured, not as good as a Frigidaire, don't get me wrong, it bakes ok, but the main problem is the door, and this is a issue with most of these old Kenmores, up to about 375, all is fine, but turn it up over 400 and the door liner warps just enough to gap the door open about a quarter of an inch, the weird thing is, after 20 to 30 minutes it warps back and the door closes, but by this time the front of the cooktop is so hot you can burn yourself on it, the problem with it is there is no way to adjust it, for a cake it does ok, as John L has said, it does not brown as well as a range with top heat, but it isn't terrible, biscuits and other high heat items brown fine...if you prop a chair against the door to keep it closed, LOL, I STILL maintain, the old Norge baked better than anything I have used, Frigidaire would be second, I know Donald hates the color, but my Avocado early 70s Frigidaire is still all the way around, about as good as it gets, and I think I will go back to it, the KM is beautiful, but pretty is as pretty does a lot of times.

Isn't the avocado Frigidaire from an elderly lady you knew growing up?  Bertha?

Yep

Donald just CRINGES over avocado anything, but since I'm the one who cooks...im going to use what I like best..LOL That old Frigidaire holds lots of good memories, I ate a lot of good food off of it as a child, pancakes and sausage every morning of my birthday for many years.

Hi Hans, all outer panels are easy to change out on FD electric ranges, so we could easily change the cook-top and storage drawer front out to poppy red and then you could tell Donald that it is a Christmas range and add it to his holiday decorating.
