This set is a sweetie. I call them Lucy and Ethyl
I posted here about a year ago asking help to get them running. Now we are ready to pass them on to the next lucky owner. They run great for their age and we have been using them weekly for over a year. We were told they are from 1957, 58, 59 or early 60's. Those in the know may be able to figure out with the pic of the model plate. The dryer is a condensing dryer, very rare and it runs well. We were never able to find a replacement timer, but the heating element works and the push button temps do regulate the heat.
The washer fills, runs all the cycles and drains well. There is a minor leak we think is in the seal of the drum, but it has run this past year with this slight drip not being an obstacle to its use. There is an inconsistent squeak when the washer runs in the spin and wash cycle. We had a local service guy who worked on these back in the day tell us they these are very rare. He replaced the hot cold valve for us and was sure they once were the top of the line. He told us the squeak was not an obstacle to use, and could be repaired with the right parts and knowledge. We've enjoyed using them and sharing them with other MCM geeks. We need more reliable machines for daily use though and don't want these to just sit. Hoping they find a lover of MCM or someone who can appreciate their unique vintage value.

This .org was a big help when we first got them and wanted to give you all first dibs. $800 for set sold as is. I am in central Indiana, for local pickup or the buyer pays and sets up the shipping arrangements. If I don't get any nibbles from this group before April 5. I will post on other sites. Thanks

Very pretty, if expensive, set. Someone with a good cache of old Hotpoint parts would really have a great pair.

Just curious. My brother lived for years in an old Victorian on the corner of Logan and 11th.

Beautiful set... I hope they go to a good home!

I'm on the west side of Noblesville in a MCM home. Lived in Hamilton County all my life. My grandmother lived on North 11th just a block off Logan in an old Victorian. Beautiful area- lots of historic homes.

1957....

Is my guess here.

Or it could be 1956 for this particular machine. There's an POD ad shown sometimes that displays this VERY machine. This ad demonstrates this machine's "Wonderrinse" Conditioner Dispenser that is located on the left side of the control panel.

This is my first ever seeing a matching Dryer.

That's a beautiful TOL Hotpoint Set.

I'm sure some lucky owner will be enjoying these beauties sometime soon.

That looked like an expensive set even back then.

Absolutely beautiful and majestic looking set! It's such a shame there are just no parts around to completely refurbish this set. They are picture perfect in every other way.

Those are 1957 machines. It was the first year Hotpoint offered a cold water wash. I believe 57 was the last year for that particular transmission where there is no pause between agitate and spin. Love that wonder dial timer! And that red agitator is a real beauty!

Thanks for all the comments. We have really enjoyed this set. And anyone who has been in our home and sees them want all the details. We have been told they are anywhere from 57 - 60. The 85yr old service guy who looked at them said the pink wasn't available until early 60. It does have the wonder rinse thingy mentioned. I never used it, all the rest works, so guessing it does too. There is a chip on the left side of the washer, but otherwise they are in amazing shape for their age. I just hate to be using them as our primary source for laundry long term. IF I could just display them and run them occasionally for the fun of it I certainly would. Our home was built in 1957 and we have been restoring it to that era as much as is reasonable. Really hope someone can give this pair a great home. IF not thru this site them maybe the MCM enthusiasts will bite. Its great to have others who appreciate these beauties.

this set is still available- i responded to all requests from this forum, but none were able to arrange pick up. I've also listed in the shoppers square with the hope someone else might see this set, willing to work with price. Thanks for looking.
