Newer kenmore fridge with the double French doors. This model does NOT have water in the door. First question: would it be possible to swap to a single door with just one hinge on the side.
2nd I was wondering about this filter I found. It looks bypasses and the cartridge is sealed and unused and never installed. It looks like a water filter. Does this have a use in the non door water model? Perhaps for the icemaker? If I install it how do I know water is going through it and flowing properly? |

Parts diagrams for the specific model (per your pic #2) shows a water dispenser at the left side of the refrigeration compartment, and a water reservoir tubing loop. However, the water dispenser section of the user guide advises "some models" so apparently yours doesn't have it. Can't say if the water flow to the ice maker would be filtered. Presumably so since there's provision for a filter to be installed ... but maybe not if there's a single inlet valve that feeds directly to the ice maker. |
