I was excited about this.

It uses a heatpump, and given all heatpump dryers here in Europe are rated at less then 1200W total, this means its drying function should be somewhat quick for what it should be (incredibly efficent and gentle) compared to other washer-dryer combos in the US.

Electrolux sells a HP WD combo under the AEG brand here, and it takes about 3h to dry a 4kg (8lbs) load.
Given the LG has US wash cycle times in its favor, 4h total should have been doable.

Now I stumbled about the Use and Care videos for the LG that they always put out.
First interesting observation: This thing appears to have metal paddles instead of plastic.
But then comes the troubleshooting video: Almost 8h for a wash and dry cycle? For real? You can pack a full capacity drying system in there and still screw this up? Are you kidding me?

Long Times

8 hours is a long time. Like an overnight wash and dry cycle.

I was told this machine wouldn't be coming to US soil.

The secret to getting faster results is having real cold water. These machines have condenser type drying. The colder the water, the faster they dry.

No, this one exactly DOES NOT use the water cooled condenser. It uses a heatpump. Google it.

Manual is online

Finaly the manual is online. While it does not give any info on drying times, it is an actual compressor based drying system, so a true heatpump for sure. It just needs some water for self cleaning.

Further, they offer different drying modes: Normal, Eco, Speed, Damp and timed. They also appear to incorporate some features straight from Europe like the warm rinse function that heats the final rinse to 104F and apparently some form of thermospin (possibly) as the drying cycles demand a spin speed selection.

And, given it has all the cycles you know from LG, plus stuff like the Cotton+ cycle which is trimmed for efficency on bigger loads, but takes longer, this appears to be an adapted clone from a basedesign that comes from the EU market.

Probably the only thing keeping it from being launched here is Electroluxes patent monopol on heatpump combos with the AEG ÖkoKombis.
That is kind of sad, I'd really like to see a competition around those cubes of super-dense high-tech laundry care technology

What model number does this machine have? I can't find such a machine on several LG websites. Could you post a link?

Ah yes, I've seen that one. I'm more interested in the combo's. I was considering buying a combo, put a heatpump dryer on top of it and a European toploader next to these. Just considering right now.

Combo

As I said, these probably won't come to the european market any time soon as AEG\Electrolux probably holds the patent to a heatpump combo in Europe.

So, your best bet with your setup would be to go all AEG (ÖkoKombi heatpump combo, Lavatherm A+++ dryer, and a Lavamat TL), and maybe rangle a dealer to give you a package discount.
I guess you'd have to pay about 2700€ for the entire package, all together, new.

Yes, that would be a good combination. Although I'm also interested in the biggest LG combo. With it's 12kg capacity it would be a good machine to wash duvets. I'd use the toploader and the dryer more than the combo anyway, so I wouldn't be bothered too much about the water usage of the combo for the drying part if I would use that.

Ofcourse if I hit the jackpot, I could go all Miele with the new XL combo...

Yeah, the European model is just a washer without the dryer. What I'd like to read is the manual of the Side Kick unit. I wonder if it can do boil washes. I think I've read that the Asian version of the drawer washer does boil washes, so I would guess the Euro version would be the same.

That would be verry verry cool for sure! Perfect for cleaning cloths, kitchen towels and such!

The cycles on the Singapore SideKick are:

Normal (48min), Intimates (73min), Lingerie/Wool (45min), Boil Wash (124min), Baby Wear (152min), Rinse+Spin (14min)

The large washer to go on top if the SideKick can do boil washes as well.
