Definitely, in 1959 they were still making impeller machines. |

Paul, you are correct. But that was ONLY on their TOL. I had cousins move to Silver Spring, MD in 1972 and they bought an early to mid-1960s house that still had the original Hotpoint dishwasher. It looked pretty much like this one on the outside, but it only had 1-level wash as it didn't even have the shower thing in the middle of the bottom rack like this one had. I guess that was an "extra" for the Custom Line model--also note this one has a rinse-aid dispenser too. |

It looks like it has the two position upper rack, a nice feature the owners probably never used. |

But Norge, didn't you see that it's "sound shielded". |

I believe it's a DB50. I have a brochure with no print date. Hotpoint's address on the back includes a zip code which makes it no earlier than late 63. The brochure doesn't list available colors unfortunately. |

I looked at some Hotpoint catalogs regarding the porcelain vs plastic interior question and found:
In a catalog dated 10/82, all dishwashers still had the porcelain interiors.
My next catalog has a received stamp of May 1987 (several missing years there); and it indicates that all except the TOL HDA2000 model still had the porcelain interiors. The HDA2000 was a solid-state electronic model similar to GE's 2800/2200 products.
My next catalog has a received stamp of Dec 1990 (again, missing years); it indicates that about half of the models had polypropylene tub/doors and half still had porcelain enamel interiors. The polypropylene models were at the upper end of the product line.

Yes you are correct DA50. DB designates a mobile dishwasher. I was surprised how Hotpoint's model numbers don't seem to correlate to anything. A DA 49 has more features than the DA50. |
