It appears to be a Kenmore, but I don't know which type or model.

If it's a wringer, I like the clean, streamlined look that hides the roller mechanism.

Or could this be an early automatic, and is that thing at the bottom a bracket for a bolt?

Or is this not a washer at all and instead some kind of spinner?

The machine is a Kenmore:

However it is not a wringer washer. It looks to be a Whirlpool made hard mount automatic.

I'm afraid the one true savior has moved away from both Reno and AW.

Definetely a Kenmore Bolt Down

Yes it is fully automatic and has a separate lid like a wringer washer. We had one. We had the 1944 Bendix front load until about 1964, and my Mom's friends were moving from Martinez, CA to Huston, TX. The dad worked for Shell. So they gave my dad the Kenmore. They used that until our cousins in Lake County, CA gave up their Maytag AMP. So my dad moved that in. Later when that gave out he got a Kenmore DD. So I guess it shows that Maytag outlasted them all since all three machines were similar in age.

The Kenmore could probably be lightly used without bolting it down. Just make sure the tub is perfectly balanced for the spin. Is this the only TL machine with no suspension that bolted down?

Kenmore Saved

Picking up the Kenmore on Tuesday . I just spoke to the A very nice woman in Fallon ( 60 miles outside of Reno ) she owns the local thrift shop. She said she has more appliances so I'll post pictures if items are not sold.

The operator's manual for our 1952 waterfall front Kenmore with suds-saver and Roto-Swirl agitator had a page with this model pictured. I don't remember what was written about it, but Robert found the same manual in a thrift store in Cleveland in 2000 or 2001 if it is needed.

I would love to see a video of this washer in operation!

Glad you grabbed this one, Rob - I've NEVER seen this before, but just because it looked intriguing and sleek, I posted it. It's fun to see someone take something I was interested in from mere looks - so when or if you get a video of it working, I'll be looking in, as well.

Phil
