If I am correct, I believe this was actually a redesigned Blackstone washing machine that came out at either the tail end of the 60's or the beginning of the 70's. I do remember a laundromat that was close to a place I used to frequent and they had replaced all their older Maytag machines with new Blackstone washers in about 1971 or so. At that point in time, I had never seen a Blackstone washer. In fact, I don't think I have ever actually seen an old solid tub Blackstone machine other than on youtube or in pictures. They were not common to our area and there was no dealer that I am aware of. Blackstone didn't seem to last much longer after they made this new design machine. I know in the mid 60's they started making rebadged washers for Hamilton and I truly believe the later models of Hamilton were still made by Blackstone like their new designed machines. The Hamilton machine did have a straight vane agitator, but had amazing similarities to the Blackstone machine of the same era. I worked on one of that era and it had an interesting pump mechanism that I had never seen before or since.

Hoover 5xx series

 They were the best machines produced at the time. Big, strong and not too noisy my mum had simular model for over 15 yrs. The dearbox failed and she went for a GE fllter flo that rusted out in 8 yrd.
The Hoover was excellent. U could even suds save using a big enough tub.
