If these are anything like the drop down Kenmores (I think they are) you quite possible have the best designed dryer ever built in terms of overall performance, speed, parts, durability and repair. Kenmore put these on their higher end models, often with electronic dryness control, and they were well liked and respected. That model has the interior light, a big plus. I have the top filter Whirlpool Maytag version, and while I love it, never liked the filter located or that fuzzies that go all over the place when pulled out. If you are thinking of getting this, don't hesitate. Personally I would seriously consider this over a Speed Queen dryer in terms of the drop down door and performance. Regardless what people say about modern appliances, modern Whirlpool dryers are practically identical in every regard to their vintage counter parts in performance and design. Parts are very, very plentiful. In fact modern Whirlpool dryers are the only modern thing I can't gripe over- so much so I plan on keeping my current Maytag for some time despite being a die hard vintage and Speed Queen washer fanatic.

It's a new model. When I was trying to locate the manual, found a description that said you could turn on the interior light while the dryer was running--with the window ... Personally, I don't like the drop down door, I can fall in. I prefer the side-swing door. Nicely featured model with IntelliDry electronic sensor. I wonder if this is considered a "drop in" model. More of an anomaly with it having the drop down door. Maytag has done this sporadically through the years after being acquired by WP. This post was last edited 04/30/2017 at 11:48 |

Martin, I would think the door would fit other 27" WP-produced models with drop down door. The window is much larger than when KA dryers had a small window. I lose my balance and fall in with these drop down doors and such a deep drum. I'm 20+years older than when I had the LK dryer for the Shredmore. |

well, lucky today, you have an option for a pedestal.....
years ago before pedestals were ever invented, after surgery, I could either bend over, or twist, but not both at the same time, made it hard to get clothes out of the dryer, my brother built a 15inch base and raised the dryer for me.....made all the difference in the world for unloading... this was a Kenmore Limited dryer with the 'toss to the front' option....something these big drum dryers should bring back... its actually nice too for some models like the ThinTwin units with the dryer on top, for both loading and unloading... |
