I was home this weekend and my mum casually mentioned that "grandma says our machine is verry verry loud".
I hadn't used it in a few weeks (I think 2 or 3 weeks), so I was kind of surprised as there was nothing unusual about it when I last used it.
I checked the drum by turning by hand and oh my those bearings are shot. Verry little play in the drum, but loud deep screaching noises, the worse the more loaded. So definitley a bearing issue. Just weired it basicly happend within a timeframe of 10 or so washes.
I checked the error codes stored, and it was only a F13 (which is a water diverter fault) which it stored every time from day one on, sometimes together with a F07, so no motor overload or damaged heater yet.
This one was a special offer and had 4 years warranty, covered by Bauknecht (part of Whirlpool). It's only on its 3rd year, so still within warranty. We called the service center, which contacted a contractor that will contact us sometime this week. They gave us the whole 'if it was your fault you have to pay for the service call' talk, but given we have 2 washers, and thus a total wash capacity of 13kg for 6/5/4/3 people, we certanly did not use it to much or overloaded it. So not our fault, no matter what they say.
Given it has a sealed tub, they'll probably just replace it. Otto (online store where we got it from) still sells these to this verry day, but I'll keep you updated on what will be done and what might replace it.
