Its A Kitchenaid, and a better performer than any MT automatic ever built.

Another Mistaken Seller

I'm pretty sure that's a KA logo at top left on the console, and I think the washer was produced before KA and Maytag were made by the same company.

Yes,

DD Whirlpool product before they owned Maytag. Seller is uninformed.

"May tag". Maybe he has bad vision. Or if not, he can have my 2 demerits for not reading panel product id's.

I remember a member or enthusiast mentioning his set of Kitchenaids(weren't these re-badged also for Sears brand?)...and loved them.

KitchenAid topload washers were *always* direct-drive Whirlpools with a few added engineering features.  They never had anything directly to do with Maytag .... or Kenmore beyond Whirlpool also producing the direct-drive Kenmore units, and also direct-drive Maytags after the company was purchased (and other Maytag-family brands such as Amana and Admiral). And Roper. And Estate. And Inglis. Yada yada.

This was the first generation, too, with the special lid handle molding.
