Someone nearby should check to see if it hasn't be hauled away by a scrapper.

My goodness, just when you think the supply of vintage machines has dried up something like this appears.

Hope someone here can save it!

I sent a message to the seller so we will see if I get a response. This is my favorite washer of all time. I'll keep everyone posted on what I find out.

I'm ashamed to ask this but...

Is there a member near there who could pick it up for me until I can arrange shipping? It's exactly like my uncle's machine, even the same agitator and it looks intact, and I would so love to have this.

I just sent an email to the owner; we'll see if it's still there.

The seller got back with me and said someone is suppose to pick it up 6/10.

Already on it.

volvoguy87's profile picture
Elginkid saw it a few days ago and contacted the seller on my behalf but was told someone was already picking it up on 6/10.

I REALLY want a WCI-58. I have the matching dryer in white already. Short of that, any Unimatic would do.

I'll keep dreaming,
Dave

It is amazing what's still hiding out there. Free makes the speed of replies like E=mc2. Well, somewhere in there, speed of light.

Will say it again

Don't understand why persons leave CL listings active if the thing is "sold". What is the point?

That and those who go back and revise a listing to say "sold". Again what is the good of that?

Criagslist ads only run a week. But, for some reson, a few stay up FOREVAH..

Laundress, I agree.

It's very easy to delete an ad and put it back up if the sale would fall through.  CL ads run for 45 days here.

In any case, I am thrilled to see this person offer this machine for free and allow it to be saved.  So many others just want stuff gone and away it goes to the curb.  I thanked the yellow maytag seller many times for not allowing the scrapper to take them.

Someone nabbed a WO-65 For Free

launderess's profile picture
Along with seller agreeing to hold it for a few weeks until pick-up. This despite one is sure of later tempting offers of good money.

Wonder if we shall ever find out who the lucky person is; or will the machine vanish into that black hole of mystery collectors who don't like to share.

and the Black Hole of Never-ending Cl ads..I've seen some up for 2 months.

..as for the mystery "collector", let's hope that was this washer's fate vs.

the other image here.

Highly doubt that washer is going to the scrappers.

launderess's profile picture
Someone knew what it was and pounced. Another thing, scrappers aren't bothered with setting pick up dates several weeks into future. No, someone trolling CL got lucky!

Going by the general slience thus far from the "buyer

launderess's profile picture
Am going with we may never know, that is unless something is wrong with the machine and he (or she) must resort to coming here for repair knowledge.

There are several persons trolling CL with adverts lifted from this site seeking "vintage" washing machines. While one active member did fess up, there surely are others out there still in the dark who chose to remain so.

Hopefully, the person that got this will show up.  I do know that there are a number of members that are in the shadows.  Just a look around here will make some people wonder if they want to be involved or not.

I used to think Vacuumland was full of members of questionable tack.  Now it seems we have our own.

I wanted it. I still do, but I used to, also.

volvoguy87's profile picture
I fear that, given the nature of things in this area, there is a very good chance a non-collector may have snapped it up for scrap. I've been a step behind the scrappers before.

I do hope this went to one of us. I can also see wanting to keep ones acquisition quiet until the truck is unloaded. After all, it ain't over 'till the fat lady sings!
