Do any of you recognize this black plastic part? This one's being sold with an old Jet-Swirl FS dispenser. I also have another one that came with a 1960 Filter-Flo washer. The seller had slid the thing over a plastic Filter pan where it was fullfilling absolutely no function that I could tell. It has, as you can see, some small tabs on the outside of the band, plus a GE emblem on the outside. It looks kinda like the old rubber collars that held the old copper filter pans on the solid-tub agitators before they introduced the plastic ones in 1960, but these black ones are too wide for that job.

What is it?

I wonder if it was something used in the beginning of FS dispensers to sort of snug it in place on the filter pan, mainly for fear of flying off during the spin cycle...

SQ used a sliding clip to keep their dispenser on top of the agitator....

I guess over time they figured this stuff wasn't actually needed....just like those little rubber snubbers on the bottom of minibaskets that snugged it to the vanes of the agitator...

Never seen one of these before.  But I think y'all are on the right track with what it's designed to do.

Likewise, I've never seen this before either.  Maybe an early 60s GE 'Product Man' book may have a clue...
