Just the thing for that country cottage kitchen, or maybe lakeside cabin.

Wowie zowie! Was this the origin of the GM Frigidaire monotube? What wonderful and primordial industrial design.

There's one of these for sale here in Pensacola. They want twice as much for it than the one listed above. Still super cute. I have additional detailed pictures if anyone is interested.

This was also available in a double oven model with an oven on each side of the cook top.

Those were Tuttle and Kiff Monotubes, on the market years before Frigidaire started using their Radiantubes.

I have one of these - they were made here just outside of Detroit.

Here's mine (it was a birthday present):

They're interesting, but I'd be afraid I'd trip over one of the legs.

The oven part reminds me of the enameling kiln we had in H.S. art class.

Every time I see a photo of one of those ranges, I think of yours. How fortunate you are to have friends that think so highly of you that they would go to all of the work and effort to give you that as a birthday gift. I guess without a box it would have been difficult to wrap, especially with those legs.

I was thinking the same thing.

What an awesome gift! When I started my hunt for a vintage stove last year, the little electrochef was the first one I found. I wanted it *so* badly, but I knew it would not be useful at all for our needs.

I found some of the pictures I took of it back then. Most were of close-ups of wiring to check out the condition so I didn't include all of those.

JOE - you are so right, I am lucky to have such wonderful friends in my life! My friends are one of my life's greatest blessings. Even more - the stove they gave me was found at an estate sale at a house located on a island in the Detroit River, and the stove was in the THIRD FLOOR attic!! So not only did they buy it for me, they hauled it down two flights of stairs, dragged it off the island and then delivered it to my house with bow and balloon! If that's not love, then I don't know what is ;-) I'm a lucky dog!!

So there were three models: Left oven, right oven, and double?

I agree with CircleW. I would definitely be tripping over the legs daily.

How high is the cook top from the floor? I couldn't find specs when I looked... although I did find a mention that it weighs 500 lbs (!!!). True? Seems like 250 would be more reasonable.

Joe - LOL!!! That is getting framed and going over the mantle!! Bravo!!

I fear they had an easier time crossing the river then my friends hauling the Electrochef down from the attic!
