Either Whirlpool is planning on taking Indesit from the German market or they are redoing the website entirely. Either way verry interesting. CLICK HERE TO GO TO henene4's LINK |

True, but at a verry affordable price. You could buy one of those huge Hotpoint Aqualtis models with an extended warranty and would make a pretty good value deal there. |

When I bought my very first washer, an Indesit W1020 in 1988 in a small store that specialized on scratched and dented white goods I didn`t know the brand and when I asked I was told it was a Bauknecht in disguise. I knew I was told total BS but the price tag was too tempting for a 1000 rpm washer so I decided to buy it.
It came without a molded plug but with a 4 wire cord which allowed me to connect it either to a 10 or 16 Amps. circuit. When I needed repair service because of a shot 40° thermostat (for the prewash) the guy told me Indesit had been bancrupt for quite a while in Germany, the brand just does not exist here anymore but they still offer service for their machines over a contractor (him). He also told me that the model I had has never been intendet for the German market but they were still in business in Austria, hence the instuction manual in German language amongst others. He also confirmed that Bauknecht uses the same motors for some of their washers which came from Yugoslavia back then. The point of my long story is that Indesit has never been big in Germany, apparently they even vanished for some time here but they came back. So it wouldn`t surprise me if they abandoned the brand here again. I also thought it might be interesting that Whirlpool and Indesit have been sharing a supplier even back in the 1980s long before Whirlpool aquired Indesit. |
