We've had so much rain here the last two weeks. It has rained off and on all day and the sun hasn't come out long. Finally today was sunny and dry. We really needed the rain.

This reminded me of how we used to have severe summer storms. Interestingly, haven't seemed to have them the last few years. My old dog was afraid of thunder and would pant the whole time - and of course she could hear the storms approaching long before and after we could so she could go on for hours.

About 10 years ago was looking out the window during a storm, lightning must have struck right outside as all I saw was white. Power surge blew out TV and surge protector but only the phone line part of it for the modem.

Never had lightning strike that close. It reminded me of my dad telling how they would get sparks shooting out of the outlets during storms! Never had that happen here.

My favorite storms are when sleeping, like to hear the rain.

Isolated storm last night threw one strike within 50ft.  There wasn't a flash...bang, it was a FLANG; one event.  Knocked out the electric doors, 6 cable boxes, and an Otis elevator.  Ugh, I'm on the 3rd floor and they say it could take a WEEK to get the part.

Really?  The eighth-largest US metro and Otis doesn't have parts for a 15yo elevator?

I'm about done with the rain, too.

We've had lots of rain here as well for the last few days. I think it was Tuesday that we had 10 inches of rain. The yard is still so wet that we can't mow, so the grass/weeds are so tall that the neighbors probably think we're in foreclosure-lol! Mosquitoes are also out in full force. The upside to this is that we at least are not in danger of wild fires!
