We used to have a plastic bowl with lid that for some reason I remembered the other day and cannot think of the brand. For some reason I keep trying to remember.

It was a beige color bowl with an oval shaped handle on the end and a brown lid. I think there was a brown stripe on the side of the bowl. It was a thick, hard, heat resistant plastic.

Does anyone know what it is? I cannot find the bowl.

Hard and really thick or hard and not too thick?

If it was quite thick, I'd look for things put out by 'Melmac' or, in general, melamine.

If its not all that thick, it could be many things. Have you tried a google search?

Funny, there is a minor ongoing "issue" amongst  some of my cousins as to who took their mom's speckled brown melmac bowl.  It was used for decades when they were young and several want it, no one fesses up to taking it.

I guess these things are keepers...

I think you might be referring to Texas Ware.  Correct?

Texasware!

I remember that stuff - closest thing to indestructible on earth. Gosh, I don't know if that's what Cole is looking for, but that's what I was thinking of in my reply.

No, this bowl was more modern, probably 1980s era. It was a circle shape but the handle was oval and flat and I think the lid may have had the handle shaped to it as well. I am thinking the brand may have been Anchor or something similar.

when you say handle, do you mean an actual handle with a finger hole in it or just a wider extension of the rim  on one side in an oval shape

Flat extension of rim, no hole.

Texas Ware!

Wow, that is it if I recall correctly.  It's an ongoing mystery as to who absconded with it, but with 11 kids no one want's to fess up and face the wrath of the others who got there too late....

Texas Ware was a major manufacturer of school lunch trays.

I think Hans is a major devotee of Texas Ware.  Am I right?  Here's a photo I borrowed from Ebay of some school lunch trays for sale.  I'm also including the listing.

Melmac always reminds me of camping trips when we were kids.
