A couple weeks ago my friend Travis shot me a link to a Craigslist ad for a Pink Maytag washer and dryer. I contacted the seller and was told they were still for sale, so I made her an offer which she accepted and thus started a two week adventure in picking up the set. Not having a truck has caused me some issues in the past with getting appliances so I decided this was the time to bite the bullet and get one. Little did I know buying a quality used truck was such an adventurous undertaking. However, after a couple near misses and close calls I got a truck and got the "pink babies". I am truly shocked to say that they are in better shape then I could have ever dreamed of. The owner was an older man who got them from a neighbor when she passed away. He thought they were unusual so he put them on pallets in the corner of his lawnmower workshop and that is where they sat for years. The owner must not have liked Automatic driers because she didn't use this one much if at all. Both still have their Maytag feature stickers stuck to their tops. Both manuals, bill of sale and automatic clothes sprinkler were inside the dryer. I will attach more photos as I get the machines in the basement and cleaned and polished up.

Very cool machines!! Undoubtedly less important, but what kind of truck did you buy? Maybe this could be the start of a new thread: What do you use to haul your appliances home?

I can't wait to see them. Please drop me you postal mailing address. I have some things to send you. I'm still searching for that one certain part you need. I had an unexpected family emergency so I'm a little behind.

Beautiful set! IIRC correctly this is an early 142 paired with the 641C dryer. It should have the gold anodized filter and possibly the early two piece lid.

I too am curious on the vehicle choice, and a thread of hauling vehicles is a great idea!

Fun stuff in the dryer

Here are the items that were in the dryer. The owner even wrote the date of delivery on the manuals.

That's what people did back in those days when those appliances were sold. I would be comparable, in today's economy, to ma and pa going out and buying a luxury car.

Dryer photos

Here are some pictures of the dryer. Used a little jubilee to shine them back to life.
