Hello all.

For a couple of months, my Bosch WAE24162GB was out of commission, and in that time it got filled with water (don't ask me why!).

Since recommissioning it, I have noticed what may in fact be damage predating this: the raised part of the back of the drum has picked up a dent or crease, right across the circular centre. I just caught sight of it while it was washing, with a Miele-like triangular thing flashing around... feeling the drum, there is a definite crease in the metal there. I shall attempt to attach a photo which will hopefully show this clearly. I have absolutely no idea how this occurred or what it might be symptomatic of. Machine still washes fine, bearings sound OK (though not quite as creamily silent as those in my WFT2800) and functionality is otherwise unimpaired. Could the spider have deteriorated through corrosion? I haven't washed anything heavier than a duvet in it, not like I've been chucking hard plastic objects in there... well, apart from a mobile phone the other day, but I shall gloss over that one...

RE: Dented drum - HOW?!

I would be surprised if it was corrosion from water, but then again if it was a sealed unit. Water could have affected the pressure inside if there was enough temperature fluctuation and the door was closed when the water was in it? That could have caused warping. Other than that, I've had similar things happen because of shoes or other heavy objects during the spin cycle.

Hope it continues to perform!!

Machine worked fine until a pillow burst in it and jammed it solid. Dismantled it to clean it out, and what did I find? Plastic outer tub, and the base of the shell was just rust. Not worth persevering with. Bought a Miele W2240 for £100 instead. Still got all the parts to eBay...
