Maybe not wedged in, stuffed full to the corners of every rack, but they are all pretty full!

First the 1974 Kenmore Roto-Rack:

Now we go upstairs to the kitchen for the "daily driver" machine, the post 1975 Maytag WU-601. I forgot to start it last night so had to wedge and stuff a little bit tonight to get the dinner dishes in...

Gansky-- we had a roto-rack LK in the '70s. It was noisy, but I loved that spinning top rack. No rust on yours, either! Ours rusted away. I replaced it with a KitchenAid like the one shown in GadgetGary's post above. We also had a set of those colorful tumblers with the white rims. That's a very colorful (and sensibly full) load of dishes.

Thanks for the pics, guys!

I just love that Maytag with the Rapid Advance timer! Not to mention the color that you picked out for it.
Too Cool!

I have been snatching up Corning Centura stuff for a long time, I must have service for 80 (it's a sickness) in white and the blue cornflower pattern...

Bob, the Boonton came from a sale - and there's more of it in the GE Mobile Maid! That is a platter, most of it is pretty nice but it has been loved so isn't "mint" anymore. I love the colors though!

Trivia

Hey, gansky1, I grew up with those plastic tumblers in the top rack! My mom got them on that kitchen aisle at the grocery store, where we got most of our dishes and kitchen things. But we only had the green, yellow and orange-ish ones.

These dishes came from my parent's house. I took them when the house was sold. In the past few years, I have added many pieces to the set by finding them at Tag Sales and have recently found more pieces at my local Salvation Army store. Those dishes are my 'daily driver' and I really love them since they bring back so many childhood memories.

The dish pattern is called 'Serenade' and is made by Sheffield.
I have included a picture of a very unusual piece to the set.

And also a link to replacements....a company where you can find matching pieces to numerous sets of dishes.

Those tumblers were in the same boxes as the Boontonware. I thought they were fun but they need a trip through the scrubbing needle spray of the Maytag Jetclean dishwasher before they can be used again.

And as you can see by the un-appetizing pictures in the beginning, there is no pre-rinsing needed - a red velvet cake and a couple of meals in the Maytag all came out sparkling!

I submit my BobLoad® in the next two photos for approval by The Great Man. (I know my Maytag won't be vintage for another 19-1/2 years, but I didn't want to start another thread, LOL!)

This is the aftermath of making a batch of pesto, a batch of blueberry jam and two casseroles. Naturally, there will be a second load, but it won't be as full.

SCORE!!!!

Thanks, Bob. I'll find out if the chef's pan comes clean in about 2 hours. I literally started the machine 5 minutes ago on the HEAVY WASH cycle, using the HIGH TEMP WASH, TOUGH SCRUB and 160-DEGREE WASH (actually at 160-degree final rinse) options, so it'll be awhile.

Unretouched, spotlessly clean pans. The Dutch Oven was crusty with gunk from making jam and the chef's pan had fried up several batches of ground beef and onions/bell peppers. Nothing was burned on, though. DAMN, I love my Maytag!

Now for load #2. These two casseroles are worse than they appear in the photos. Stuff is baked on and dried on. We'll see how they come out. Although it's going to be well after 2:00 a.m. when the cycle is finished, so I'll post the results in the morning.

And even though it's nearly 2:15 a.m., I'm still up listening to Mott The Hoople, doing laundry and taking pictures! BOY HOWDY am I going to be dragging at work tomorrow. Today. Anyway, here are the spotlessly clean, unretouched casseroles!
(The 'spots' you see on the colored Pyrex dish are actually imperfections/abrasions on the outside of the dish. They were there when I bought the dish at a yard sale.)

Again, no complaints about the mighty Maytag!

And now, it's time to switch to T.Rex and go fold some laundry...

Jon, would that be your bedroom where the large drain line branches off the main cast iron pipe and goes through the wall on the second floor? I think I have seen the sewer lines on the outside of old buildings in the southern part of our country, but up here, at least before global warming really started making itself felt, that would not work in our winters.

In my big-load Maytag pics, the paddle in the lower rack near the edge of the cut-out for the phallic Tower of Power, the whisk is under one of the bowls.

Centura - good lawd, I keep buying it too. I have so many extra pieces that are scratched and/or marked that I've found in sets or parts of sets, I send leftovers home with family and friends and tell them to throw away the dishes! I counted the good dinner plates - White Coupe and Blue Cornflower - the other day and could serve 83, I should really stop now.

I just noticed I have the same set of plates as in the picture directly above---the ones with a brown stripe around the rim. I threw out the dinner plates, but I kept the salad plates and saucers, which I use as spoon rests/utensils rests during food prep. I think you can see the plates I'm referencing in the photos of my BobLoad® further up in this thread. It's a small world!

I have Bob-loaded my new Kenmore DW before but never snapped a pic yet. I'm sure it will work fine because that DW can clean anything.

I made some oatmeal raisin Reese's peanut butter chip cookies last night. Washed the KA bowl AND the paddle, thank you. Came out clean as a whistle using the Smartwash cycle.

Upper Deck

The top rack.

My motto is everything in the dishwasher, but the refirgerator. I NEVER prerinse. I am amazed at the Earth Muffins who rag on endlessly about minimizing impacts on the environment and then flush millions of needless gallons of water and energy down the drain to rinse dishes.

Here ya go Bob! HUGE mixed load in the Frankenmore with my new arrival, the winged Surgilator. 10 shirts, 3 pairs of jeans, 5 pairs of boxers, 1 bath towel, and 1 hand towel. I had to raise the water level up to the cap, but otherwise it did great and turned it over well. I know the other agitators (save for the Dual-Action and bakelite Surgilator) couldn't handle it!

I'm curious how much that load weighed in pounds. Was it close to 18 lbs? Weigh-out 18 pounds of jeans or towels, see what that does.  :-)

BTW, the online service/tech info @ Whirlpool on the Cabrio states 4.5 cu ft / 18 lbs capacity on a chart of specifications & features.
