I saw this washer on ebay with very little info on it and was wondering what model it is, I know there's some real experts here that might know.....

Looks like the A206 that served us faithfully for many years.

I'm guessing...

This is an A206
Possibly an A207

Standard capacity washtub 16 gallon
3 water levels (SMALL, MEDIUM, NORMAL)
2-speed (REGULAR agitation & spin, GENTLE agitation & spin)
3 wash water temps (COLD, WARM, HOT)
[I'm guessing all COLD rinses]

I'm really looking for an 806 washer and a 808 dryer. I'm supposed to pick up a kitchenaid kds-17a next week for free, really want a kds-18. I just got two ge refrigerators last week both 1953 and bought together. The wife and I are tired of these new appliances only lasting a few years......

See, I knew someone would know what it was, I'm still pretty new here, been lurking for a while and I'm really enjoying the knowledge base and the site

I believe that matched set is in south bend Indiana and I'm here in Massachusetts, just a bit to far for me.

The MT A206 would give warm rinses on the hot and warm settings, all cold on cold of course.

Unless you don't run large loads or have large items like king size sheets and/or bedspreads, it's a good idea to keep waiting for an 806.   The next generation of machines with the brown consoles had the same mechanics as the center dial machines.  The model numbers for those styles that are equivalent to the 806 are 810 and 712.  I have a 712 and love it, but keep in mind that these later styles don't offer a lit control panel like the 806s have.

If you only have pictures but no model number, an 806 will have a smooth, reflective opaque glass panel as opposed to the solid textured panels of the lesser models.   Another way to identify an 806 is by the number of buttons.  From left to right there will be:  four wash/spin speed selector buttons, five wash/rinse temperature buttons, and four water level/load size buttons.

Here's a picture of an 806 panel from an old thread:

Here's a picture of my 712's console.  The 810 models have almond colored buttons and almond trim around the timer dial instead of bronze.

Ya know, there's something to be said about about the beauty of these older machines not to mention their longevity. I am a mechanic by trade so repair and upkeep isn't a problem, parts I understand is a different story.

Nice to hear...

That people are waking up to the fact that these new appliances are dreadful! Not only do they not perform well, they end up in the crusher within five years! No wonder the extra warranties are pushed so heavily at time of purchase since the manufacturers know their machines won't last very long...

I used to get so confused with the different maytag model numbers, and NEVER thought I would get them sorted out in my brain! But as I've come along, I've learned more than I thought I could, about the center dial 06 & 08 models, by reading on here and talking with Roger.
:o)

Are those 53 GE's from

the CL ad I posted here a week or two ago for a matching pair? If so glad I posted it here and you got them.

Ken, funny thing is that I saw that you posted those refrigerators after I already got them. They are from a convent that is now closed. They are in beautiful shape, about the only thing they need is paint from being scrubbed clean all the time. They also came with about a dozen original pull lever ge ice trays. While I was there I asked the father if they had any other old appliances and of course he said yes and down to the basement we went (no jokes about going to the basement with a catholic priest) and he showed me my next purchase..... A 1955 Estate by Noma gas stove with the big center fifth burner, it's also nearly mint other than a broken door handle piece. I'm getting that for $50. I'll be posting pics of that when it arrives here. I need help getting it out of there basement so it will be another week or so.

Here's a couple of one of those refrigerators, still has the original stickers on the inside. The pic of the stove is not the one in the basement but one I pulled off the web but it's the same exact one I'm picking up.

Looking closer, this one is an A207. The 206 is exactly the same, but the frame around the console is not the shiny chrome that the 207 has.
