We had the gas version of that dryer from April 1986 to September of 2003.

the size of the lid and the style of the control panel are dead give aways to that fact. The last of the belt drive Whirpools had the same control panel as the dryer that is for sale with this washer..........PAT COFFEY

I thought that same thing when seeing the pics of the washer. I know that close to that era they still made the old belt drive machines too, it didn't look wide enough to be one.

I beleve it is a whirlpool belt drive washer. I could tell by the handle on the lid, and the Whirlpool belt drive washer is wider than the direct drive washer. I could be wrong about this, but I beleve that the Whirlpool belt drive washer is 29" wide.

They didn't except on the electronic control models.

Mechanical timer, 2nd-rinse rocker switch, this is a direct-drive.
