Does anyone have a 1958 RCA Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII washer and dryer, like the one shown in the "Wonderful World Of Wash N Wear"?

I have never actually seen these particular machines myself. They were quite flashy ones. Interesting that even Whirlpool and Kenmore had something similar to a "time line" type set up with the TOL models. It doesn't look as though the timer was like the Norge machines though, since they had a timer knob like a traditional machine and it appears to go in one direction. Many of the washers of the 50's and even 60's seemed to do this with TOL models. Beautiful machines too!

The 1958 Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII was the top of the line for that year. I like the color guide control panel, and it reminds me of my aunt's old 1999 Whirlpool Ultimite Care II (which was the Imperial Mark XII of its time), but it must be hard to find. I know a few people on Automaticwasher have the 1958 RCA Whirlpool Washer Dryer, like the one shown in the "Wonderful World Of Wash N Wear"

Just curious, what is the washer who appears on 11:53 from the video on link?? It looks very compact.

Friends of mine had the 1958 Imperial in yellow! what a beautiful washer - loved the time line control and the lighted control panel!
Almost just like the Mark XII but lacked the wash & wear cycle and a few other minor features!

The washer shown at 11:53 is also a Whirlpool. 24" bottom of the line (or low end of the line).

I don't believe one has surfaced, but several years ago the Imperial version of the washer was found down in GA. Not sure if this one is still around or not.

I don't know what that whirlpool is mechanically, but it looks like it needs to be cleaned up a bit. I wonder if anyone has the matching dryer to it.

Steve - I'm glad it eventually made the midnight train to your place! It's a pretty cool machine.

It is kool. Everything works but the timer motor--------that Repairmaster says "DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THIS TIMER. It must be replaced"!

Timer repair

I fixed the timer on my Maytag LA712 that I got for free. Now it's in regular service, in place of the Whirlpool that developed a small leak...

I say carefully take it apart, taking photos as you go, and see what you can do. :)

Keith, those Maytag washers are easy to fix, and they were built to last forever! I really like my Maytag A810 washers and dryer, but am trying to find a Maytag A806 washer and Halo Of Heat electric dryer. I have had no luck on trying to find a Maytag Halo Of Heat dryer at all.

Dream Machine

That 1958 Whirlpool is one of my dream machines, along with the TOL Lady Kenmore "Timelines". Steve's machine may very well be the last one left. These machines were expensive in their day and Whirlpool was working their way to the top (of appliances) at this time. Sears machines sold like crazy, because anyone could get that charge card.
I've had the pleasure of seeing this Whirlpool Imperial Timeline and it is quite a beauty. A little TLC (and a nice paintjob) and voila! She will be as good as new. As for the timer, if there is a will, there is a way. :)

-Tyler

P.S. Thank You Steve for letting me snatch some photos of this beauty, I drool every time I see it lol.

Here are some pictures of the 1958 RCA Whirlpool Imperial Timeline:
