Following on from our visit to Steves (SESteve) new vintage washerroom cabin in April (see link for thread) we had an invite back this weekend for a catchup and repair session before major renovations in their fab home takes place and to install some dexion type racking allowing better use of the older heavier machines..
Richard and myself landed Thursday evening so we could make an early start Friday and hopefully crack it before the weekenders arrived !! It started off looking like this after hawling all the stuff out the way for the racking... CLICK HERE TO GO TO chestermikeuk's LINK |

On the "Cheadle Chuffer" from Manchesterford to London Euston is Mikey with Lord Marchmain of Lincoln aka Darren steaming down the east coast in his carriage from Stackton Tressell, calling at Trimley St Mary, Morphy Richards, St Mary Cray and finally arriving at London Euston onwards to Hooverville, No porters where required during this experience !!

Repairs where also on the cards, from the previous thread you saw us taking apart the AEG Lavalux spinner unit to install new bellows and to use epoxy filler on a slit in the outer can - Many Thanks to Louis and friends in Germany for providing links to diagrams etc..

All that needs to be done before we retire for drinks, chat and midnight washing is to load the Boschette - one can see the glass milk bottles fit a treat,
Marvin the Milkman is going to be pleased with the performance along with Hyacinth... |

Midnight washing in the 70`s vintage Miele, these are the classic styling by Miele that we all remember, a that touch of Orange that makes them so unique. The inner door has an instruction panel and the controls offer total flexibility, the spin speed selector looks like nothing else of today !!

Its been stood standing in a barn for many ears, surprisingly the under lid programme guide is very good, it was completely seized so with the back n top off and water sloshing through the lads finally nudged it into life and it sounded smoother than many of our own such as was the surprise to everyone, as you can see it will have a full restore as this model is the later model with interlock to Steves NIB model coming up...

A change of scenery as we use my favourite shower / utility room as it has Steves NIB mint Hotpoint 1504 Toploader as covered in other thread and the Dyson Contrarotator, Richard loads up the Dyson and yes it does contrarotate. 60d Cottons wash, 3 rinses and a max extract 1400 rpm spin...

There was deffo a T-shirt theme going on, it was only when I went to the kitchen and noticed Kevins glass cutting block that I made the "Cows" connection ha ha, from our famous Cow Artist Steve Brown.

Sunday evening and we start to disperse, those staying had the treat of a "Concert in the Park" last night of four, featuring a Night Under The Stars with The London Philharmonic Orchestra - well it was summer, was nightime, there where stars, the orchestra was fab, the singers rousing AND as its Britain - "The Rain Bucketed Down" didn't dampen our spirits though ha ha..

So until we meet again a huge thanks to Steve and Kevin and kitties for putting up with us and for all their hospitality, its amazing to think all of these meet ups come from the desire of a group of people with a common cause wanting to share our hobby, meeting up and fixing things - And it all started from here on AW many moons ago.
Cheers..

Hans if ya like Almonds you`ll love this...
"The first Battenberg cake was made to celebrate the marriage of Queen Victoria’s granddaughter, Princess Victoria, to husband Prince Louis of Battenberg. It’s traditionally flavoured with almond and has the signature Battenberg markings, that is, the yellow and pink squares (said to represent the four princes of Battenberg). The strips of sponge are glued together using jam (normally apricot) and the whole cake is covered in marzipan. Sometimes the edges are crimped and the top is patterned with a knife" CLICK HERE TO GO TO chestermikeuk's LINK

I haven't officially said thanks chaps for the hard work moving things around and for such a fun time. Even my neighbour next door said it was lovely hearing us all laughing and joking. The time went by too quickly as always and I'm useless at taking photos. Despite the rain at the concert we saw an amazing firework display as part of the finale but I think it was too wet to take photos by then - our phones would have shorted out lol
Anyway, I've been busy since making a few refinements to try and make a bit more room and move some things about. Here's a few more pics as an update. First the back wall where we have machines on top where you can see the programme selection including the digital collection in the middle |

That's allowed the Miele and Philips top loaders to be positioned in a group which works quite well although I have to move the 1100 forward if I need to put fabric softener in the Miele!! I finally got to use the 1100 - it is full of limescale and crud but it's quite a good machine. I think the peramag motor needs new brushes but it's surprisingly quiet.
Thanks for all the other comments too guys. Steve |

Looking great Steve, always good to sit with the layout and tweak it, trouble is you arnt moving matchboxes ha ha,the Hotpoint top loaders do look great up front hiding the back panels, and like how the mixes of mechanical and computer controls are sectioned now all you have to do is make it tardis like.
Have all the fun you want and "Happy Washing" until next time. |
