Following on from our visit to Steves (SESteve) new vintage washerroom cabin in April (see link for thread) we had an invite back this weekend for a catchup and repair session before major renovations in their fab home takes place and to install some dexion type racking allowing better use of the older heavier machines..

Richard and myself landed Thursday evening so we could make an early start Friday and hopefully crack it before the weekenders arrived !!

It started off looking like this after hawling all the stuff out the way for the racking...

With the wooden posts removed we can move over from main wall three stacked washing machine and dryer sets that are going to be sited on the east wall...
so now residing are a Servis Quartz set, a Hoover A3060 set and a Hotpoint 18580 matched stacked set.

With the east wall done we can start to build the racking for the main wall, Steve installed a second layer of plastic drainage piping using the glue method which I think I would use next time around, rather impressed with how simple it was to fit...

More shuffling and "Where is the Bendix Going" ...we do have the option of putting washers on the shelf as well so we choose the solid induction models that tend now to bounce around on their suspensions.

Midnight washing in the 70`s vintage Miele, these are the classic styling by Miele that we all remember, a that touch of Orange that makes them so unique. The inner door has an instruction panel and the controls offer total flexibility, the spin speed selector looks like nothing else of today !!

Its been stood standing in a barn for many ears, surprisingly the under lid programme guide is very good, it was completely seized so with the back n top off and water sloshing through the lads finally nudged it into life and it sounded smoother than many of our own such as was the surprise to everyone, as you can see it will have a full restore as this model is the later model with interlock to Steves NIB model coming up...

Hans if ya like Almonds you`ll love this...

"The first Battenberg cake was made to celebrate the marriage of Queen Victoria’s granddaughter, Princess Victoria, to husband Prince Louis of Battenberg.
It’s traditionally flavoured with almond and has the signature Battenberg markings, that is, the yellow and pink squares (said to represent the four princes of Battenberg). The strips of sponge are glued together using jam (normally apricot) and the whole cake is covered in marzipan. Sometimes the edges are crimped and the top is patterned with a knife"

I haven't officially said thanks chaps for the hard work moving things around and for such a fun time. Even my neighbour next door said it was lovely hearing us all laughing and joking. The time went by too quickly as always and I'm useless at taking photos. Despite the rain at the concert we saw an amazing firework display as part of the finale but I think it was too wet to take photos by then - our phones would have shorted out lol

Anyway, I've been busy since making a few refinements to try and make a bit more room and move some things about. Here's a few more pics as an update. First the back wall where we have machines on top where you can see the programme selection including the digital collection in the middle

That has helped free up a section at the end. The Siemens will be joined by a dyson - not looking forward to getting that out of the house as it weighs a tonne. The spinarinses are there temporarily and the quartz is awaiting repair. There is also a Miele dryer in the house to stick here too.

The zanussi and the Hotpoint dryer have been moved to the house awaiting being moved on so that's freed up a bit of space. Mike you left your t-shirt! The AEG will take up a bit less space when it's reassembled too and the 1518 is in temporary residence.

That's allowed the Miele and Philips top loaders to be positioned in a group which works quite well although I have to move the 1100 forward if I need to put fabric softener in the Miele!! I finally got to use the 1100 - it is full of limescale and crud but it's quite a good machine. I think the peramag motor needs new brushes but it's surprisingly quiet.

Thanks for all the other comments too guys.
Steve

Hi Steve.

Your set up looks superb!

It really is a big jigsaw puzzle - you think you have it all sorted, then you see that moving a machine or two opens up further opportunities for changes to be made. I have been trying to fathom up here out for over three years now and am still moving machines around.

The racking does look good - having seen Al's and now yours, I really can see that it would work well in the garage up here, though we do need another smaller shelf up top so as to be able to double stack vacuums on their sides.
I long for the day when I can sit back and say to myself 'it's finished', bit I doubt that day will arise anytime soon.

Love the top loader line up and agree that it looks much better having them greet you as you walk in.

Have fun moving the Dyson! lol.

Paul

ps your Hotpoint 18580/18680 > can't remember which one you have.

I remember that you posted a video of it on YouTube, showing its very unusual spinning performance, followed by you repairing it on your garden table. What did you do to sort the spinning issue out?

Looking great Steve, always good to sit with the layout and tweak it, trouble is you arnt moving matchboxes ha ha,the Hotpoint top loaders do look great up front hiding the back panels, and like how the mixes of mechanical and computer controls are sectioned now all you have to do is make it tardis like.

Have all the fun you want and "Happy Washing" until next time.
