I love my galvanized steel White mop bucket, but evidently Pinesol does not agree. Indeed it seems to be attacking it, and corroding the galvanizing!

What do you recommend for cleaning the floor that will be nice-old-mop-bucket friendly?

Keith

Here's a photo of the bucket. I grew up with one of these, and so was thrilled when I found one that was practically brand new.

I would try Oxi Clean. Oxi Clean is a good bleach alternative, and it is not as harsh as all of those chemicals used for cleaning floors.

Thanks!

I'll try some next time and see how it goes. :)

I would even to LA's Totally Awsome Cleaner, it is not Oxi Clean, but works just as well, and you can find it at a Dollar Tree.

The safest cleaner you can use on most any floor surface is a product like Simple Green which has a neutral pH.

Clear Ammonia

For bricks, tile, and lino, clear ammonia works well. On lino, tile, it clears down to the shine, without harming finishes, or glazes on tile. Most of the time, you can get away from re-rinsing. When I use to clean homes for a living, I would use straight ammonia in a squirt bottle for cleaning lino floors, just spray and wipe with a clean cloth. no streaks or residual mess. Cleans your sinuses out as wwell!

David

I remember being at a live performance many years ago where a comedian was telling jokes. He said that last night some drunk was in the men's room in one of the stalls and every time he went to flush there was a horrible scream. This continued until a concerned person entered and told the drunk "you fool, you're sitting on a mop bucket!" Why do I remember things like that? Cheap wine I think.
