What year?

Would these beauties be?

I believe these are either 1964 of 1965 models.  And I think they ARE pink - suffering from bad photography.  This was long after the demise of Woodtone Brown, and these are definitely not Coppertone.

They definitely don't look Coppertone, but lighter brown looking to me. Did GE make a dusty rose shade of pink, in addition to the pale pink?

In the Facebook link they look like that toast color. Did GE make that color? They look low mileage. The stove has that self cleaning latch. Would that make it a P7? What years did they make those?

Correction

I pulled out my 1965 GE catalog and find reference to Woodtone Brown - not in any listing of appliance colors, but in the Texolite information.  The information on the underside of the washer lid indicates this is a 14 lb machine; 1965 would be the first year for the V-14 models and the last year for the bleach dispenser on the front of the cabinet.

So, I say 1965 and Woodtone Brown.

The vent hood lends its3elf more to a woodtown brown, so I agree.  Someone please save all of these.

OMG!!!!

bajaespuma's profile picture

It is 1965 because the washer has 7 buttons, but the bleach dispenser is the old type mounted on the outside of the cabinet rather than the style begun in '66, mounted inside and under the lid. Also, the 1966 TOL had a solid color turquoise tub.

It is also Woodtone Brown; I never knew this color lasted until 1965. Coppertone and Woodtone did exist simultaneously on the GE menu for a number of years.

I would be diving for these but I have run out of space and money. I really hope these don't get crushed.

Those are beautiful, to follow the first reply. Pink is what it looked like to me, too.
Timing is everything and mine is not good.

Oh! That washer and dryer are gorgeous!!  It's probably a good thing that I'm not nearby... LOL

My next-door neighbours when I was a brat had this set in white.  I seem to remember a mini-basket on theirs....

Those are nice appliances & I had no idea wood-tone brown (like the color of chocolate milk) could be such a nice color...

Do you get it by mixing pink and tan or light brown?

Guys, this is an easy drive for me and I've shot the seller a message. We'll see how things go!

That's excellent, Cory. I'm headed up there next week but I don't have anywhere to put those gems right now. I hope you get them. They're too nice to be destroyed. That stove is a work of art and the others aren't slouches by any stretch, either.

Dave - I would imagine you would get it by mixing a little white into some brown. Mixing colors into a paint base is an art form in its self.

Best of luck to the lucky one that manages to get those beauties!

They look like they've been taken care of considering their age. Cabinets of the W/D have a nice shine on them since you can see the reflection of the flooring in front of them.

Go for it, Cory! I thought about it for maybe a minute or so, but not a lot of storage space, and I wouldn't know what I'd do with them if I did get 'em.

Hopefully

These beauties will be saved. I sent the seller a message yesterday morning, because I really wanted to get the washer and dryer and I wanted to see if someone could save the stove and the vent hood. If nobody can get them, I have several people lined up that could get them. I will have the room (soon).
I've wanted a matched GE set for awhile and the color is so funky, I love them.

Good luck to everyone,

-Tyler

Good question Ben. The seller was feeling me out for participation in an ongoing bidding war. I decided to pass on that nonsense!

Cory - The same happened on my end, as well. Curious to see how this turns out, from the sidelines.

This whole lot is a dream come true, I grew up with these appliances.
One granny has that washer and dryer set, except a 66 with internal dispenser.
My other granny had that stove.

If anyone saves these and doesn't want the stove/hood I'd be very interested if we can get them close to Pittsburgh

It figures, the seller knows they have something, but really not sure what. So let's put it out there with a reasonable price, and when more than one person shows interest, we'll make it a free for all bidding war, instead of selling for the original price to the first to show up with cash.

The reply

"It is pending sale and had a wait list of people interested. Scheduled pick up is for the 9th if it doesn't work out I can let you know"

Nothing about an auction, maybe the seller is doing the right thing.
