This model Maytag washer was just previous to their new design washing machine which was so popular. This model still had the perforated tub within another tub which spun the water over the top of the outer tub. It wasn't able to get rid of sediment, since it would settle in the bottom of the outer tub and the inner tub was fairly small in size. The opening at the top was also small and made it more difficult to load and unload. The lid was heavy and had the water level control built into it. This model did have two speeds though. These were very heavy in weight and heavy built machines that lasted a long time though, as Maytag washers did. The new design right after this model looked very much the same, but had a larger tub that was actually perforated and it was detached from the outer tub that it spun inside of. It was a much better set up and served Maytag quite well into the new century with modifications throughout the years.
