Model Number SWTT21QN

based upon serial number, made in 2009

top-loader

coin box present

I forgot to look at whether it uses dials or electronic control board. Anyone know?

Has been in local laundromat disconnected for more than am month.
Sign says: won't spin dry if overloaded or too much soap?

What is the repair?

Should I buy this as a back up washer?

thanks

You need to make it spin and listen to it for bearing damage. If it rumbles when spinning, forget it. Usually commercial machines are pretty well used up.

Yikes! Control Board Cost!

they didn't say there was a problem, but the Control Board is electron,c p/n 201567P, $310.

How often do control boards go out on these units?

Do I test it just by doing a cycle?

Thanks, brucelucenta

I saw your reply only after I had posted.

By bearings, do you mean drum bearings, or something else?

what else should I look at in a used laundromat washer?

Thanks!

Made in 2009

Laudroat equipment that is older then 5 years is something that has to be taken with caution.

SQ TLs are (according to their website) designed to last 10400 cycles if I remeber correctly. Or was it 25 years in a non-commercial usecase?
Anyway, it is safe to assume that it ran about 5 loads a day. That would give it about 5 years of lifespan.
It's 7 years old, so it is even well beyond SQs calculations.

Thanks!

I understand that the residential units are designed for 10,400 load, but are the commercial units also designed for 10,400 loads?

Do the commercial/coin-op washers and dryers have internal counters that measure how many loads have been done?

Also, how interchangeable are the parts between the commercial TLs and residential TLs, eg AWN432SP

M, there was a video from Alliance somewhere on this site I saw that showed the coin and home models on the assembly line. All the same bottom but when it split, one side put home consoles on and the other put commercial coin boxes on. Supposedly they are the same Speed Queens.

That's their entire selling model: Commercial grade machines sold for home use.

IMHO, unless the owner of the machine is giving to you for free, I'd walk away and find something in better shape. I don't think it would be worth the time to repair it.

In saying that though, since I don't service these machines for a living, take what I say with a grain of salt. Maybe the problem could be something minor. (Maybe a loose or worn belt? What do I know though...)

If you want to spend time trying to repair the machine, good luck. It might be worth it if the price is right.

Update

The laundromat owner just e-mailed me with a request that I make an offer.

I replied that based upon its age and need for repairs, I'd take if off his hands at no charge to him.

I'd also need him to remove the coin box or give me the key.

Assuming I can get it for free or cheaply, anything else I should request?

Thanks

I think I would skip this one, the owner probably knows it serious or he wouldn't be getting rid of it these things are $1500 new, secondly he's not going to give it to you.
