I actually know nothing at all about this dishwasher. Anyone have some pearls of wisdom they can share on this? | ||

I liked this about the ad: "Why wait until 1970, when the James wash system patent expires and all dishwashers will probably be like the James?" That, along with jet packs, did not come to pass.
Seem to recall a couple of members who used the machine said it was not fantastic at cleaning. "Hospitals use it to sterilize hypodermic syringes." 180 degree rinse. | ||

When I was about 8 or 9 years old we had a babysitter that had a James dishwasher just like this one. At the time I knew very few people that even had dishwashers, let alone one with a window that I could watch the action through! Whoa, this was really a treat. I still even remember her name, Mrs. Berry. She was one of my fathers clients, I believe he had handled her divorce.
Mrs. Berry had worked for Roy Rogers at one time and she had photos of him, Dale Evans and Trigger all over her living room. I enjoyed going to Mrs. Berry's house, there were lots of things to hold my interest. Eddie | ||

I watched the youtube vid of the James dishwasher, but it really didn't show what was showering the dishes with water. It would be interesting to see exactly what causes the wash action in one of these machines. | ||

you know to be honest, I can't recall what kind of washer Mrs. Berry had, it was probably out in her garage, I never went in there. But I'll bet it was a wringer. She was very old fashioned as I remember. She said that her grown son bought the James dishwasher for her, otherwise I don't think she would have had one. Mrs. Berry drove a 54' Dodge pickup, dark metallic green, 4 on the floor. She was pretty much no nonsense.
She was very proud to have worked for Roy and Dale. Her living room was filled with photos of her time working for them. I believe she was either their housekeeper or cook, not sure which. In 1959-60 in that part of the Bay Area very few people owned dishwashers. The only other person I knew that had one was my grandma, and I'm sure that was only because they bought a new track home that included the much sought after built in AEK. Thanks for posting that great video Tom. I'd forgotten how loud it was, but I was only at her house once, and that was almost 58 years ago, but that video is exactly how I remember it working. It was much more exciting than watching my aunt's 53' Westinghouse Slant Front.
