I was tinkering around because the pre-rinse door wasn't opening and the strip broke. It must have just been old and weak right? Can I jerry rig something? I don't want to use the wrong metal or whatever.
I'm also open to tips on only doing a main wash. Right now I've been doing a rinse and hold with detergent, and then main, but it just doesn't seem to be working. Not sure why.... I don't really want to have to open the door during its full cycle because I almost always forget.

* Also, any tips on how to get the door to shut more gently? I wish there was some more resistance in the springs or something when the door is closing, because the darn heavy thing shuts so hard if I'm not careful. The springs aren't breaking or anything, but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do.
