Great video Jason, that Oasis looks like a fun machine! Does it fill the entire tub with water on the Sheets/Towels cycle?

Ooooh wow! I do love! I'm beginning to think you have a better laundry/computer set up than me now!!!

I love that "rock and roll" action of the Oasis. Goes right with the music!

Sheets towels

It fills up according to the load size, but it fills with much more water than a "normal" cycle so you get better rollover. That wasn't a Bob Load so I'm sure if the machine was filled all the way to the top, the water would fill to the top, making for a super fun wash cycle.

The Bedding/Bulky cycle actually sucks. It might fill all the way but the action is very slow and you can't have high speed spin.

Unless it's a very small load, I use S/T for about everything.

Helen loves the Oasis and washes her "delicate" stuff ;-) and it treats her dainties with TLC. Taking care of the naughty apparel is top priority at our house :-D

Why aren't they comming over the sea??
Anyway, I would like to know a title of one of the songs at the background? When the video is around 5min, there is a song I like, but I never ever have known the title.
Send it by mail, because I'm on vacation by tomorrow!!

The action is more vigourous than in the commercial and on the sheets/towel cycle it rolls over alot better. It washes like a dream. Got dirty laundry, the Oasis will scrub it out!

See the toaster?

Kelly, saw the toaster? It's the one you sent me. All adjusted, fixed and in daily operation.

It's the "Surprise, it's done!" toaster. When you have bacon frying, coffee making, or music playing, you won't even hear the toaster. You'll just notice two perfectly toasted slices of bread sticking out of it, and then you go "Darn! I missed it!"

I still have yet to get that C30A running again. I have a feeling the gasket is shot but worth trying.

and the Oasis is huge. It washes and sounds a little like one of the Haier's bpeterxx has, the tripple waterfall one. Speaking of which, have you seen the new cabria(sp) commercial with the beautiful woman, the huge waterfall, and the flying Belugia whales? It's so over the top, just like your machine.

Western Union is one of my all time favorite songs, but one of my best friends absolutely hates it. There are many things wrong with him. It goes great with the Oasis. Could we next see the spinning and such? Surprized you haven't bypassed the lidswitch yet!

I can't get over how beautiful your new home is.

Jason, how many people in this country have a PC & audio set-up in their laundry room. It is sooo cool!!!! As always, everyone of your videos sends chills up & down my spine as I watch them. You're talen still amazes me. The washing still got me a bit nausious. Evry video I've seen with towls & sheets doesn't have it loaded properly. Doesn't the manual say for this type of load things are not to go completely over the top of the "wash plate" when loading it?

And BTW, why have the naughty apparel get in the way, just sidestep it lol. (he he he)

w00h00!! Excellent video! Nice appliances! Is that Dishwasher the Kenmore 16032? or the 13852 with the stainless interior? Both excellent machines!

Do you think you could get a video of drain and full speed spin?

Thanks for the video, Jason! Your new place looks great and it's fun to see the Oasis in action. The rollover was better in your video than in other Oasis vids I've seen, apparantly due to the higher water level of the sheets/towels cycle.

I have new washer fever and I'm torn between the FL Whirlpool Duet and the Whirlpool version of the Oasis (Cabrio, I think). I'm going to wait a bit to see what your review of the Oasis is after a couple of months with it.

I have access to Maytag, Frigidaire, GE, Whirlpool and KitchenAid in my little burg. My bang-for-the-buck meter is steering me toward Whirlpool.

Bob, well now. Since you're the inventor of the Bob Load, I'm trying to achieve that perfect Bob Load to show what the Oasis really can do. The reverse rollover takes getting used to. It looks weird at first but it's fun to watch.

I seriously want to bypass the lid switch but not sure how without voiding the warranty. I tried magnets but that doesn't do, so I'm not quiet sure what makes it work.

Bobby, that's the KM with Smartwash with the plastic tub. It is one righteous DW.

The fridge is indeed a Coldspot. Says Kenmore Coldspot on the inside so it's the real thing. Costed alot more than a Frigemore refrig but when you hear the deep rumble of the compressor and drink the perfectly filtered water from the dispenser, you know it's worth it.

Yeah, I can do a drain and spin without music, just the washer noise. It sounds like a UFO taking off.

Seated With Royalty

Jason,
It is gratifying to see the old T-35 taking it's place in the lineup of new and glitzy appliances in the new kitchen. I am glad you mentioned wanting a T-35 in your profile or would have never known. I wanted to send it to you as soon as I knew you wanted one and even before I had any reason to know I liked you. I have sent lots of Sunbeam stuff to members in this group, but none have been as effusive in their enjoyment as you. Thank you, little buddy.

It is so fun to see the Oasis in action. How cool is it to actually see and "feel" the old and new machines in this group. For years, I was tied to aggressive rollover as the key to cleaner laundry. In the past 10 years, it is demonstrated, over and over, this simply is not the case.

Living in the Earth Muffin city of Seattle, mostly inhabited by Eggplants, the environmental and conservative movements makes a daily assault against the enjoyment of water and energy. Fisher Paykels are very common here and those who own them all extol their praises. I have a friend who owns 33 apartment complexes in the Seattle area. He has Fisher Paykel in eveyone because of the double whammy of lowered energy usage and reliability.

I find it fascinating that you are clearly thrilled with this machine and completed satisfied with the way it does laundry and yet the posts continue, denigrating the machine, it's washing system and implying it isn't possible for the machine to perform as you have stated. Don't we all know by now that our daily driver machines are as precious to us as our partners? Hell, I half expect someone to tell you, you can't be right about chosing Helen. Mercy, these boys can all have their favorites and still give you unabashed support in yours.

I gotta tell you, this machine sounds exactly like every F&P I have ever used, but the regurgitating wash action in the vomitorium wash tub is spellbinding.
Kelly

I've had one of these from a class demo

I have to say this is a very interesting washer, I brought it home from a training class "said I have to have one of these machines from the first look to replace the LG"s " 2 months ago and with my work schdule just hooked it up this last weekend. What fun it is and Yes it does clean very well, I was doing a test on a Calypso for a rep at whirlpool as a favor, stuff just wasn't comming clean, well the Oais has saved the day and brought the clothes back to life. The sheet and towel cycle is the best. The old Lady Kenmore dryer I have beat's the washer every time, I waiting for my rep to get me a dryer to match can't wait see what happens than>

Brett, are you a tech? If so, do you know how to bypass the lid switch or run it with the lid open?

Post# 143360 , Reply# 20   7/18/2006 at 15:33 (6,484 days old) by jonv112 ()

I sort of know how to run it with the lid open, but it has a whole new set of problems when doing it. When a tech came over to my house to fix my machine, they lifted up the top with the lid and the control panel while the machine was spinning to find out the source of my noise issue.

BTW, I don't think that the machine will ever fill up to the top completely, with any cycle, no matter how many clothes are loaded in the basket. Even with the Bulky/Bedding cycle, it only fills up to about 3/4 of the tub, and with a full tub, it fills only a little over half. The level of the water is usually half of the height of the load when dry during normal cycles. However, the only, and I think the only time it fills up to the top is during the Clean Washer cycle to kill all of the stuff at the top of the drum.

Also, if anyone wants to know, the tech sheet is on the inside of the front cabinet to the left. You have to open the top to get it though.

Post# 143369 , Reply# 21   7/18/2006 at 16:03 (6,484 days old) by areuoneto ()
No I am a tech

Sorry I am not a tech I work for a appliance parts "Reliable parts as a outside sales rep." distrubuter and was brought in for a training class it was never hooked up we watched a video of it with the glass out of it, I know when the load is done it resets the machine board by lifting the lid, but one of the techs said you can put a magnet on the lock in the front and it will run, I have yet to try this haven't had the time to play with it other than doing laundry at this point. but I am waiting for the tech manual which should help with being able to play with it.

Post# 143372 , Reply# 22   7/18/2006 at 16:11 (6,484 days old) by jasonl (Cookeville, TN)

That's the other idea, remove the glass but that could be dangerous if it breaks. I tried with a magnet and it didn't work. Did they say on the front of the machine where he lock is or in the lid itself?

Post# 143424 , Reply# 23   7/18/2006 at 20:40 (6,484 days old) by jonv112 ()

I read somewhere in the tech sheet that you can run the washer in diagnostic mode with the lid open, but I didn't try it for myself.

Post# 143500 , Reply# 24   7/19/2006 at 07:41 (6,483 days old) by vivalalavatrice ()
Why?

I easly wonder why are you trying to bypass the lidswitch in a washer with windowed lid... better a VERY BIG glassy lid (not as that old Frigidaire that has got only a little square glassed window on the lid)...

You can see it washing as easy as it has never been!

But, if you consider shadows and reflects... oh, well then try to solve that problem, dears :-))

Does the magnetic contact on the lid side go out of its place? If so, try to get it out and use it on the magnetic contact on the top...

Try also to find if the lid contact reaches somehow the other ones on the front... it would be so if you find some cable near the hinges of the lid...the it would means that IT'S A CIRCUIT!

Good Bye

The window on the lid is tinted so you get alot of reflections and it's hard to video. And we know how fun it is to watch a washer with the lid up.

Jason, have you tried washing a nice big king size comforter yet? I wanna see what happens when it's a tad overloaded. Perhaps overloading will raise the water level?

Jason, wonderful video and congrats on your new home, it looks just georgous!

How strong of a magnet did you use? For the Harmony a fridge magnet does not work, I went to radio shack and bought a much stronger magnet. You might want to run a strong magnet along the edge of the lid to see where it sticks to find the metal strip.

Post# 143605 , Reply# 28   7/19/2006 at 16:15 (6,483 days old) by jasonl (Cookeville, TN)

Jamie,

I haven't washed a king size yet but I tried to wash a queen size comforter in the bulky/bedding cycle. It's boring as hell actually. It doesn't fill all the way up and just recirculates water most the time with slow agitation. Spin is also slow. The most fun cycle is sheets/towels. The fill is "boring" because the tub doesn't turn and it fills through the detergent dispenser. But in agitation, You see lots of water and it can get splashy if it's a small load. Seems like in S/T it resorts to preset water levels instead of finding the water level like in Normal. It will fill to a certain level (1/3 of the way up) and try to agitate. If it can't agitate it will fill to a second level (2/3 full). And I guess with a Bob Load situation, it might fill ALL THE WAY which I've yet to try. I haven't tried the Clean Washer cycle either. But it does fill all the way for that one. I know Robert's Harmony fills all the way for the Comforter cycle. Oasis doesn't :-(

Post# 143647 , Reply# 29   7/19/2006 at 20:38 (6,483 days old) by jonv112 ()

The machine will sense the overload and stop the cycle, requiring you to remove some of the items in the tub.

BTW, what exactly is a Bob Load? I can't find it anywhere on this forum.

A BobLoad® is a very full load of clothes (or dishes). Some argue the BobLoad® crosses the line into overloading. It is named after its inventor, our own Appnut.

Jon

Last night I had a power outage during the wash cycle. So after the lights finally came back on, I set the machine to do a rinse/drain and spin and went to bed. Woke up this morning to a LF error (long fill). I've seen this before when I tried to wash a comforter that wouldn't spin. I guess the washer does NOT like sopping wet clothes in the basket when it's trying to fill. Maybe the tub was floating because of the weight. Who knows. SOOO, I cancelled, did a spin only and then did a rinse/drain and spin. The machine worked as normal.

Agiflow, I'm very happy with the machine. It cleans really well and is gentler than a regular top loader. BUT not as gentle as a front loader, the only tradeoff.

Oy, I hate these modern machines that are too smart for their (and our) own good. If I set the machine for rinse, I expect to rinse without talking back.

Give me '47 or a '57 any day. Jason I noticed you have two washer hookups in your laundry studio, so what's getting hooked up in position number 2? Inquiring minds want to know.

Jason I watched the video again, the reverse turnover seems very good in the Oasis, better than in the Harmony. I love all of these videos!!! Keep it up boys.

Well, true to today's attitude, the machines now talk back and holler when it can't do it right.

2nd washer hookup... I'm sure you know what that special place is reserved for. Hint: It has the number 800 written on it.

Took a look in Consumer reports today. OasisHE sits proudly at the top of the list of High Effeciency top loaders.

It has very good washability, I say excellent. Very good energy efficiency, agreed. There are FASTER washers out there, but the Oasis is BIGGER so it comes out to same amount of G's. Water effenciency, average, agreed. Noise, very good, agreed. Gentleness, average, agreed. They report it tends to tangle and get off balanced. I've had a big load of sheets and towels tangle once, and I also had a comforter get out of balance once, and that could've been improper loading on my part. But still, TOP OF THE LIST!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!

I love it when Kenmore makes the grade! Of course, LG Tromm Steamwasher made the grade in FL's, but look what's right below it... KENMORE!

Bob Load

Would this count as a Bob Load?

3 queen sheets
4 flat queen sheets
11 pillowcases
1 twin sheet
1 twin flat sheet

I managed to get it all into the tub, I'll start the cycle a little while later, because I have to charge my batteries and empty my cards. I will as usual record video from start to finish.

How many of you think that it will actually have rollover?

Hi Jon-- A true BobLoad® can only be approved by Bob (Appnut) himself. Post a list of what's in the load and a picture of it actually loaded into your washer at thread #7179 in the Imperial Forum (Would Bob Approve?). He'll get to it. And I'm glad you're joining in on the fun!

I imagine 4 sets of queen sheets, pillow cases and a twin set qualifies. Hell throw the bedspread and hope it doesn't go off balance

Jon-- That was one HELL of a huge load, and made up of mostly large items, so I wouldn't feel too bad about the lack of rollover. I think any TL'er would have struggled with all those sheets.

Jason-- What does the Oasis do if the load becomes unbalanced? Does it have a scare-the-hell-outta-you buzzer like the Kenmores of yore? Does the machine stop or does it continue through the cycle without spinning?

The outer tub bangs against the body and the washer immediately stops. It only happened for a queen size bedspread that got off balance. Everything else balances nicely.

It does vibrate a little in high speed spin but that's about expected.

I would imagine that with a tub that wide, there isn't a whole lot of clearance between it and the cabinet. I stopped at a Sears this weekend and checked one out. They are so cool. Also looked at the agitator version, but the version you have would seem to be more fun---and different.

You mentioned vibration. Is your machine on a concrete floor? In my warehouse apt., the washer was on regular flooring, so the washers (every one of them---the KitchenAid TL, the various WCI/Electrolux FL'ers, the Frigidaire 1-18 and the '59 Lady Kenmore) would vibrate and shake a bit during the spin cycle. In my house, the washer is on concrete, so there isn't so much as a shimmer of vibration during spin.

I'm still debating between the TOL Duet FL'er and a Cabrio (I'd have to go w/ Whirlpool, as the nearest Sears is about 70 miles away). I'm very dedicated to the FL format, but the Oasis/Cabrio would be so much fun... Decisions, decisions.

Now that we have seen what the disc version is like washing..it would be nice to see how the agitator model works..but with those rubber base fins..leaves me a little cautious.

The agitator machine is "supposed" to work identically to the disk machine, but with the Triple action agitator... I have yet to see one work... They wont let us hook up the machines at work... hmmm I wonder why? LOL

Post# 145171 , Reply# 52   7/26/2006 at 08:42 (6,476 days old) by jasonl (Cookeville, TN)

I'm sure the agitator machine has a higher water level than the disc machine but I'm sure it does load sensing as when the basket floats, it's ready to agitate. It's not as "HE" as the disc machine but who cares, water's cheap. What's expensive here is the electricity. The OasisHE uses a DC motor which uses less current and it spins the clothes nearly dry which saves ALOT when drying. I like my washplate machine. It's wonderful, unique and fun to watch/use.

Oasis and wrinkling

Jason, I saw a video at Sears on the Oasis. It looked impressive. However, the saleman has one, and also likes it, but claims that the clothes come out VERy wrinkled and twisted, and that they need to be dried in the drier. I do like to hang up some clothing outside.

Do you have any problems with wrinkling, or do you dry everything in the dryer?

Also. How do you like ther dryer??

Thanks, Ray

I dry everything in the dryer and the clothes come out perfect. No wrinkling at all. I would guess that if you want to line dry, you can select medium spin speed (around 600rpm) and you might have better luck. It's so humid over here that line drying is useless.

Oasis Washer

Jason, So you are happy with the way the washer washes? Clothes come out clean? I watched the video, and it does not look like there is much roll over. But, I have heard from other people that have that machine, really like the way it cleans. Your comments please.

Also. I am thinking of getting a new larger dryer. I have an LG 2032 washer, and I am not sure if I want the LG dryer, or look at the Oasis.

Do you like the way the Oasis dryer dries?

Currently I have an original Maytag Neptune dryer, which dries the clothes perfectly, very evenly, and no shrinkage.

Your comments on the dryer please?

THanks Jason

Ray

Dryers/Line drying

The dryer dries a load in about 30 minutes, even though at the start of the cycle it tells you otherwise.

About line drying, I live up in Toronto and the summers are always hot and not that humid, so we line dry whenever we can. I always set the spin speed to high, and as long as I add some liquid fabric softener and shake out the clothes a couple of times before hanging, there are no problems with wrinkling. Plus, thanks to 30+ degree weather, the clothes dry outside almost as fast as the Oasis dryer!

I'll bring a video

I'll bring a video of a whole cycle, but no, the Oasis won't fit in my Bug LOL.

Jason thanks for sharing the neat pictures. It looks like you have the house pretty well all set up. It sure does take time doesn't it? I bought the Sears HET4 set for my new place. Have only done a couple loads so far but I am very impressed with these machines. Did a large load of towels last night and they dried in 32 min. I thought that was really great. Once again congratulations to you and Helen!
