I forgot to mention they said it was tested as they do with all the used appliances they sell. At least this is what they told me. And it was quite clean looking including the back. |

Martin, I think you are right. It looks clean and high-mileage. Look closely and you can see the bottom third of the tub has the blue color bleeding through the worn enamel. Might have washed a lot of jeans or overalls in its day! |

Scott, I want to contradict you on a couple of points. The early ones had Wash'n'Wear "speed" button that as normal/slow. There still was no Perm Press cycle on the dial at that point. In fact, I think that was only for the early 806 models. Family friends had an early 606 with just single wash cycle and soak cycle. I don't think the Perm Press cycle on the dial came out until 1969 and maybe 1970 at the latest. I think 606 models at this point still had H/W, W/C, and C/C. It wasn't too soon after this version that Maytag broke out the 4 temp buttons to be H/W; H/C; W/C and C/C for both the 407 FabricMatic & the 606. Kind of like the earliest 606 only had 3 water level buttons, which my parents friends' model had. Other than the 906, Maytag was the last manufacturer to offer a separate/specific Perm Press cycle. I think Maytag broke out the temp buttons during the early 1970s "energy crisis" when electric rates went skyrocketing. And when they did, the lower-end models with just 3 temp buttons had only cold rinses. Not until the 06 series came out did Maytag have a cold rinse with the warm wash. Before that, the warm wash button yielded warm rinse and the only way to get cold rinse was to push the cold button after wash fill. |

Bob, no contridiction. Thank you for the clarifaction. I was not sure. You mentioned the wash'n'ware button on the earlier 806 models, i forgot all about that. What i was thinking of/confused with was the dryer. I remember seeing wash'n'ware on a few earlier dryers. i also didnt know the 606 was offered in a simgle speed on early versions.

That is an A606 from about 1972 or so. My neighbor had this model, and it was the quietest washer I have ever heard run. |

Dude, you need to get in the habit of reading the entire thread. Are you using a phone or some other device that's inferior to a computer for accessing sites like this?
The price of the Maytag is in the original post above.
The ad for the Easy Spindrier in another thread had already been deleted per the reply before yours, so there aren't any more pictures to share.
If you need navigational help, start a thread in the "Super" forum and we can walk you through whatever you're having trouble with. |
