I've always wondered something about Westinghouse TL machines. On the dial, like in the photo below, it shows first rinse and second rinse. Is the first just a spray rinse a la Maytag? Or are there two deep rinses?

Long and copious amounts of water, slows the spin down drastically. The two Westy top loaders I had were over 2 minute sprays, truly a 1st rinse.

That is a long spray for sure. Thanks for the reply, guys.

They needed it to get rid of the suds. I don't think I ever saw one that got up to full speed in the first spin.
Refresh my memory--- wasn't the pump on top of the motor----- so if it leaked it fried the motor?

Yes it was

A few of the Philcos were too, a really stupid design.
