So I saw this ad and read through it and it says the dryer does not heat up. With that being said what should one offer for this set. I am also curious to know if this not heating up could be a common problem easily fixed, now I know that it could be various different problems such as something as stupid as the gas being shut off to the burner being shot. They do look like a decent set though

well, your basically buying the washer......if the dryer doesn't work as it should, you should only consider it as scrap, not that you would....

but if they were offering the dryer alone, and basically not working, scrap value, that's it....

the fact that you could get it running is to your advantage, not theirs.....who knows whats involved with getting it fixed....

for that price, both should be working......I would start at 125 to 150...

Could be a broken wire, problem with the gas valve, or about a dozen or so other things. Maybe they didn't realize the pilot light went out.

That's what I'm hoping for, just the pilot being out. If everything was that simple

don't be surprised if it turns out to be something simple....

I just kicked in to a Kenmore Limited dryer I got a while back....got the set for a song as the dryer was reported non functional, yet he just paid to have it serviced a few months back....

could not figure out why the igniter would not glow, and of course, no fire.....30 minutes into it, found a wire slipped off the thermal fuse....crimped it down, and slid back on, and it fired up....

you might have just as good of luck....one man's junk!....

but I still say the asking price is a bit high....if both worked, it may not be that arguable....

keep us posted as to how you make out....

Worst case scenario would be a bad electronic control, but yeah, the pilot probably hadn't been lit for a long time and they likely have no idea what a pilot light even is (and we're talking about the one that makes a blue flame, not the little round lens above the dial), so yes, in that case, the dryer wouldn't heat.

The gas supply for the dryer could also have been shut off at the valve, so that would be something to check before trying to light the pilot, if you decide to go take a look at this nice set.  I don't think they'll sell very quickly at the price they're asking.

I pick up the set on Saturday morning, $125 for both. Just gotta run a gas line over to dryer location, that's why when I had gas installed in the house I had them size the main accordingly and put in some extra taps.

Those don't look very high mileage. Must be something simple.

picked them up sat. morning, no problems. I will install them soon, I want to go through them and clean them up. they're actually pretty dirty plus I still gotta run some gas line for the dryer. first things first though, gotta replace the timing chain on my car first, sounds like a sewing machine so.....
