I was thinking about this today - does anyone have a favorite season? I think this time of year is one of my favorites, fall going into Christmas/New Years. Of course it's a lot different in Florida compared to other places. We are just starting to get some temperatures in the low 70s while some states it's snowing already. I can't believe it's October, I feel like it must still be August.

I always enjoyed the Thanksgiving time and of course Christmas. Seeing the fall and Christmas decorations and the traditions. I know it can be hard as we get older though. Last year was a difficult fall/winter with my grandmother's health issues. I tried to bring a few traditions back that had fallen off a bit to keep the spirit up a bit. I did a little decorating and put up a very small Christmas tree and bought gifts for the family which we hadn't done in a while.

My mother used to be really all out for decorating at Christmas, but it hasn't been the case the last several years. I think partly due to no one coming over for Christmas. I'd love to get the big tree up again and get out the old ornaments.

I do enjoy spring and summer of course. But I think again, there isn't all that much difference to those and winter here a lot of the time.

I prefer cooler weather to heat and humidity. It is still warm here and expected to hit 80 degrees again tomorrow. I can't wait for it to get cooler. I love the fall/winter season. Thanksgiving and Christmas put me in a better mood also. Looking forward to our first snow if we have one this year.

I just love the sound of distant two-cycle snowblowers muffled by falling snow late at night. It is music to my ears.

I cannot wait to be able to use my venerable 1968 Toro SnowHound 20. A single stage that is built with the ruggedness and self propelled system of 2 stage machines.

Driving my big rusted-out '75 DeVille in the snow can be fun too, as it is rear wheel drive.

Hmm. Well summer is good if it doesn't get TOO hot and humid. I mean, I like the beach and pool too. But fall, I think is better. Makes me feel all warm and cozy. Winter until after the Christmas season. Late January, February suck.

Winter

Having grown up in the Houston area, we do normally only have two seasons: hot and not as hot. I remember well many, many Christmas vacations from school where I could ride my bike all over town in shorts, and be able to play baseball, etc., in the sunshine. Usually, the cold weather--such as it was--came after New Year's.

For any of us living on the Gulf or Southeast Coast, the arrival of Thanksgiving and then Christmas is notice that another hurricane season is gone. The loveliness of spring is always tempered with the knowledge that the season is coming again.

The last time we had snow down here was Christmas Day of 2005. People went nuts! It was beautiful, though of course not enough to be any kind of nuisance. Stuck around for a couple of days, too.

Nope, give me summer year round. Open the windows, occasional a/c here. End of August it always turns colder. Then snow starts flying in October and continues with the cold right into April. HATE cold weather now and layering up my entire life and spending more on heating oil.

Spring and summer are my favorite seasons. The only seasons SoCal has is: Spring, Summer, and Fall. You only get four seasons if you live in the mountains, and the closest mountain to me would be Idywild, and Idywild gets a lot of snow during the winter.

Fall, except for "Summer" (C'mon, don't start being up in the 80's & 90's degrees, then plummet back down!) and "Winter" (Not ready for it to start being that cold) which is one warm enough to be outside but not hot, cool, but not cold!

Cider mills, some late-season yard work, and hayrides... And also GOOD weather for Halloween, right down to trick or treating... Don't like my allergies messed with or the up & drop in temperatures giving me colds as well...

Fall and its brilliant colors.  But I hate dealing with the leaves afterwards.

Spring and fall. New life in spring and the red leaves in fall. Don't care for the humidity in fall though, but the nature is at it's best in those two seasons.

My favorite season depends on what climate I'm in. Here in the Chicago area it's summer hands down. The only time of year the weather is at least somewhat predictable and I don't have to wear layers. The rest of the year varies from cool rainy and damp to downright bone chilling cold and snowy with occasional sunny days.

I like spring and summer best.

If this was winter weather through March, I wouldn't complain. After the first or second snow around the holidays, I'm over it.

This time of year, the Fall has always been my most favorite season, sans the fires, please! Here is Northern California the air just seems to caress you with its soft warmth in the early Autumn. Then as we get closer the winter and the mornings and evenings get cooler it’s nice to enjoy a fire in the fireplace or in our case the pellet stove. I love the scent ot the trees and all the beautiful colors of the leaves changing.

I think at the best of times/circumstances that all seasons have their points. I'm not interested in living someplace that has only one season. At least, not most of the time.

Of course, "best" may not happen in the real world... Even when seriously flawed, though, I find some things to like about all the seasons. I am not wild about heat, for example, and summer can be tiresome on hot years. (Which seems to happen more now than was once the case...) But I like drying outside, which I can't do in winter, and I like summer foods (which alas I can't really afford now).

Although, over all, I think I like the cooler months the best. I'm not as wild about winter itself these days. Indeed, I'm dreading it in some ways--although a lot is just my current circumstances. Power failures are a problem where I am, and roads can be really horrible in bad winter conditions. Plus I don't have the things that I once liked about winter--like a fireplace, or holiday celebrations.

First notable cool-spell for the season today, 68°F @ 11:15a and hugely-reduced humidity (34%!).  Prediction is 50°F low tonight & 49°F Tue night.  Low 80s°F daytime, up to 87°F Sat and humidity rising to 74%-77% (ick), then another mild norther.

I like it when the weather is cool enough that I can use my unvented electric dryers inside. I might do that tonight since our low temperature for tonight and tomorrow night is supposed to be 38F!

While I like certain things about each of the seasons, I'd have to say I like Spring the best - at least after it gets up above 60. I like the warmer weather, and all the trees and flowers beginning to bloom, and I can start hiking at the park again. I like Summer really well, too. Fall is OK when the weather stays warm, and the trees are colorful, which they aren't yet this year. I like Winter for a while, until about mid Jan., and then I want Spring to come.

I love both extremes...

extremely cold with 1 week of "white shit" or extremely hot.

One week white stuff, I wished, went from 70 something yesterday to 40's right now and dropping, back up and back down. Who knows what is going to happen from now on. I remember a few Halloweens going trick or treating in a snowsuit over snowbanks as a kid. I would much rather run a/c than running heat and having to clear out snow. Guess I am in the wrong place, lol.
