The most dependable, easy to use, no nonsense machines ever made are pictured here. The capacity was not the largest, but was just slightly under the largest capacity machines and the standard capacity was as large as any standard capacity washer. They were VERY dependable and lasted many many years with no service at all. There are many collectors who have them, but these machines are NOT just in eccentric collections that people may have. These machines and ones made after that are still in use by people who bought them to do their regular laundry in. That is why there are still so many around to this very day in service. Certainly cannot say that of ANY other machines.

You have to click on the picture of the day under the daily double and it pops up.

We have the harvest gold set that comes right after this one. They are our everyday washer and dryer.

The Maytags of the '06 model era are elegant in their simplicity. They wash well, they extract well, and they run decades between overhauls. I wouldn't trade my "daily driver" 1972 A606 for any washer in the world, and according to the serial number, it's 45 years old this month.

My 511 may look a little different with the almond/woodgrain console but it is still a real Maytag in the guts with only 1 repair in nearly 35 years and zero on matching my 410 dryer. I will keep them as long as I can still do wash.

You all forgot

To say...They sling oil out around the bottom and unless they are on a concrete floor you have to sit on them during the spin cycle....LOL.....I know MOST people love them and never have any trouble...I think I jinxed every one I ever owned....5 of them! Our first one was new in 84...by 85 my Mother gave me her checkbook one day and said, Go to town and BUY ME SOMETHING that will get thru 1 cycle without walking or kicking off!!!LOL Ive had 4 more since...SAME THING, a Highlander, a 606 a 808, and the last one, a 85 model that vibrated so badly it tore a 1 foot hole in the vinyl floor before I could stop it....NEVER AGAIN!!!LOL I DO see nice ones at estate sales so I will get them if I can...For ANYONE who wants them...Rant over..LOL
