Hey guys,
I'm helping friends restore a 1920s Easy model E wringer washer for daily use, and what oil should we use in the agitator transmission? This machine not documented anything like Maytag, and we want to mess it up.

Thanks!

Have you used the search bar and typed in Easy wringer washer? The archives here are a wealth of information. A lot of times I have read that people use a gear oil in the power units of wringer washers.

I would also post a pic if you can, a lot of times it will jog someone's memory of the machine as well.

No, but I did type in "Wringer washer transmission oil" and got a lot of hits about later Maytags and their oil leaks and one reference to using 40W motor oil. The machine lives 90 miles away, and I'll photograph it the next time I'm visiting. Previous searches for anything Easy-specific haven't given me much. (There's got the be a service manual out there somewhere...)

The oil that later Maytag's use is still in production by Whirlpool it is part # 6-0560800. Not sure if it could be used in other machines.
