Hello all, I haven't posted for a while but my vintage finds have been few and my old stuff keeps chugging along; until a few days ago.

My Calypso is Kaput. Not completely... I put it into the diagnostic mode and it ran through it just fine. Counted down to zero, pumped, spun, made proper noises, etc. It finished the countdown and shut off. Then I asked it for a normal cycle and the buttons lit up and it displayed 43 minutes on the timer. Pressed the start button and nothing.

Every cycle works normally until you press the start button, then it just sits there.

I tried pushing it hard. Soft. Fast. Slow. Massaged it. Nothing.

Ideas?

Sounds like the Start button is bad.  Did the diagnostic procedure you selected involve pressing Start?

The diagnostic does not require the use of the start button.

...and that did occur to me, but two things:

1) I figured it would have been wonky a few times, rather than fine and suddenly drop-dead.

2) I thought somebody might have run into this before and would have a magic sequence of actions before I get out the screwdrivers.

There are diagnostics that involve the Start button.  Suggest trying those to confirm it's the problem.
