I am sorry but I wasn't sure where to put this. Steve Groff aka Sacto Teddy Bear, passed away last monday. He has several machines in his mini storage ... 2 working combos, some electronic Lady Kenmore sets, and more. I am in touch with his brother because it would hurt Steve to know that his machines end up scrapped. I may be planning a trip to go out there because there is one set that we agreed to buy/sell it for my new house. Everything else is up for grabs. Please say a prayer for Steve and his family. THANKS?

For the love of God, NO!

Am just shattered, totally shattered. Thank you for posting the information, am sure other members will be glad of it as well.

May God grant Steve eternal rest in peace!

Am too choked up now to say anything more.

Todd, thank you for letting us know.  Glad you kept in touch with him through the years.  I'd been wondering about him in recent months.  Would like to hear from you myself.

Yes, thanks for letting us know. I remember when he was a regular in the forums. Always difficult to learn of someone in the AW family passing away. Thanks also for your concern about his collection of machines.

Just recently, Like Bob, was wondering why he did not post anymore.

He used to correspond with me directly.

May Steve be granted rest and eternal peace. Peace for his family as well.

Steve

Always sad to hear of a member's passing. My sincere condolences to the family and friends. I remember he had a compact LG Combo, that he rather liked.

I am sorry to hear of Steves passing. We corresponded for many years. Steve and my wife would talk for hours on the phone. When in Sacramento we would meet for lunch or stop and see him. He had some nice machines in his storage. He will be missed for sure. Peace my friend. Dan and JoEllen

I’m sorry ,I don’t recall Steve, but I’m very sad to hear that he has passed away. From the many responses he had many friends here on AW.org. This must be a very sad time for his loved ones. May he RIP.

While once a very active participant, it has been nearly seven years or longer since Sacto Teddy Bear regularly posted. As such many new members may not know of him.

However can honestly say Steve was a beautiful person, and a warm caring soul. You've but only to look through the archives to read his posts and get an idea of just the sort of man he was. Always ready with helpful advice and warm welcome.

I can't believe it's been seven years since seeing his posts. I remember he always would end his post with something special.

This young mortality that seems to hit so many members is rather depressing at times. A reminder that even though we plan to be on this earth long enough to put off things and wait until later, well I guess later may not come.

Steve was an extremely warm and caring guy. I visited him a couple times in Sacramento and we had lots of fun looking at his collection and poking around local used appliance stores. Thank you, Todd, for letting us know. I wondered why I hadn't heard from him for a while. Such a loss.

Sad to hear this

Steve gave me a Frigidaire 1-18 washer many years ago. We did have lunch at that time. I always enjoyed his posts here. He was a character and a collector before this site was started. I got to see some of his collection in his patio at his Sacramento home.
