I do not know the exact year of these dishwashers, but it was around the mid to late 70's. GE made the TOL dishwashers with a full size spray arm under the top rack for a very short time. I never quite understood why they discontinued doing that right after these machines, but they went back to the "shower tower" again. These machines had to be good cleaners of the dishes. I knew of at least one person who had one and said it did a terrific job. It would be several years before GE made another dishwasher with a full size spray arm under the top rack.

We had a GE dishwasher back in the day, 1970's. It had the spray tower. The lower rack was awkward in loading, had a raised upper portion in the back, for dinner bowls, so there was some wasted space that limited loading the number of pots and pans on that rack. The cycles were long, and it faded some dishware. It was very loud. All in all, not one of my favorite machines.

My First Dishwasher purchase

 was one of these machines, purchased in early 1977 at Foley's department store in Houston along with my first washer/dryer purchase, an avocado GE Filter-Flo set. I loved this dishwasher. It got my dishes really clean. I owned and used it almost daily for 9 years without a single issue or breakdown. I loved the interchangeable panels for the front; I used to change them periodically just to give the kitchen a new look. True, it was noisier than my mother's KA, I think because of the tub construction. But, I wasn't in the kitchen when it ran so it didn't matter. I enjoyed this appliance as much as the Filter-Flo pair, which also ran for that 9 years without a breakdown or issue, until I moved and sold the home with them in it.

I had a similar version of this dishwasher. Yes it was louder than some but my gosh it could scrub the chrome off a trailer hitch! Never a problem ever.

These were very nice dishwashers! I could never understand why GE didn't continue with style! The dial-rack was a great feature! The only possible reason I could think of for them dropping it is maybe the water usage was about 17 gallons on a normal cycle! The next series used about 1/3 less! It is ashame they didn't just revise this style! I remember seeing them in the stores and I thought this would be the wave of the future but unfortunately it never happened :( - the next series the potscrubber3 was a great machine but it lacked the space and Versatility of the potscrubber2!

Upper rack wash arm delivery system

 How was the wash arm supplied with water? Specifically, from the advert. it looks like GE may have copied the arm and water delivery system from Whirlpool and maybe they ran into patent infringement issues and had to revert to the old style pop up water tower?
