Two of the three GE Filter-Flo washers that I had over about 30 years had the GE Mini-Basket and Mini-Quick. For those unfamiliar with it, when used with the Mini-Basket, the Mini-Quick cycle could wash, rinse and damp-dry small loads ready for drying in 15 minutes.

I've thought for years about some way to duplicate this performance when I had front loaders, which these days seem to have such long cycles. The quickest cycle I had on my Frigidaire Affinity FL was 27 minutes for 'quick wash'. However, I found that even using only a teaspoon of detergent, or at times no detergent, I still would need to use another 15 minutes for an extra rinse and spin.

I'm unfamiliar with today's generation of FL machines. Are there any on the market that can do a small load ready for the dryer in 15 minutes? If not, why not? If not, any ideas on how to develop a cycle like this?

I didn't use that cycle often on my GE machines. However, when I did need it (a particular pair or socks, for example, or a particular w/w shirt) I really appreciated it.

LG sidekick, it's a washing machine pedestal with a mini washer inside.

LG or ELux

LGs quick cycle is 15min by default I think. Wash time can be adjusted up, water temperature up to hot. On the TurboWash models, the results should be ok for loads like 3-4 medium TShirts. Uses the recirculation to quickly saturate and mix, then quick dilution rinse, and I think one normal deep and one TurboWash spray rinse.
Biggest culprit is balancing there.

Electrolux has a quick 15min cycle as well; 17min on the MOL and 20min on the BOL IIRC. Their mixing pump technology quickly mixes detergent, followed by 2 quick subsequent rinses without spins I think. Then quick final spin.

That is what I think to remember, no warranty on the correctness at all!

Electrolux series617 front loader has a 15 minute wash cycle, and matching dryer has

a 15 minute dry cycle. I have been reading up on them, and would love to have them as

my next set, when its time.

Im sure other front load brands have similar fast wash and dry cycles. My LG set has

something like that, but I haven't used them much.

infusor--

I've seen that machine with the little plate-type washer under the FL drum.

Any idea how that machine has sold? Are they completely separate machines, or do they share parts?

It looks like a cool idea, but as others have already stated here, I'd use it so seldom that it'd be hard to justify the cost...

on some machines you can select Rinse/Spin....and select ExtraRinse....or run 2 Rinse/Spins....

it would only be a wash-spin-rinse-spin, but this can still bump you into the 20 minute mark....

and some machines don't offer a warm rinse, so a cold selection is all that would be available...

I use front load washers

Personally I don't have or see the need for washing a just a couple things with a super quick cycle or not.  Sure if this fast cycle was capable of washing and thoroughly rinsing a FULL load in this time, that would be great of course.  Otherwise I have enough clothes to go 2 weeks w/o doing laundry, but I do it weekly anyway.

My 2009 Kenmore He5t washer has an "Express Wash" that I use as my default cycle.   I select "heavy" soil and "extra rinse" and this usually equated to 50 minutes (depending on load).   The primary reason I use this cycle is, it uses more water than the "normal" cycle (and 15 minutes less time).  Unlike the LG and Elux, my washer ramps up to full rpm spins between the wash and each rinse on "express".   Having a drain only (no spin) between the wash / rinses has always bothered me.

I have a quick wash on my Kenmore (LG) but I have never used it. I have a hard time trusting anything short of a normal cycle.

Thanks To All

who answered here; I really had no clue what's on today's front loaders. '

Obviously, a 'quick' cycle isn't some sort of need, and it's certainly also not a crutch to avoid having sufficient clothing. I can remember, however, using it once on my Filter-Flo when I was set to go out and managed to spill coffee down the front of the shirt I was wearing. Was it my only shirt? No, it wasn't. Did I have other shirts? Yes, but I wanted to wear this one (It was a century bicycle ride). So, into Mini-Quick it went and in a half hour I had it ready to wear again.

I appreciate your answers.

LG Turbo Wash "speed cycle" runs 15 (light) to 25 (heavy soil) and is surprisingly effective, probably due to the recirc jet. The manual suggests it's only for 3 to 5 items and I've followed that rule, especially because the normal cycle with turbo option and light soil is 25 minutes and seems to work great.

Quick cycle

My Duets quick cycle is 18 minutes and does 2 rinses. But it only washes for 3 mins (light soil) and does 1 interim spin. It is far more effective when you have it set to heavy soil and max rinse, 10 minute wash and 4 rinses with 3 interim spins.
